Calling all artists!

We are a small new gaming company putting together an online fantasy card game, and we could use some artistic help!

Artists would work with our designers to develop prototypes, and then early versions of the needed art for our beta launches. We would prefer people working on the East Coast of the USA but could work with folks who are further away if they have particularly desirable work.

There are three areas where we need work done:

• Game icons: We need many custom game icons which will represent the different strategic options a player will have as well as special qualities of cards. A rich, colorful, round style would be nice, as well as a sense of modularity in the design of icons that have similar purposes to each other. This could end up being as many as hundreds of unique icons.

• Game pieces: We need sets of little "figurines" to be used as game pieces. These can be designed and drawn pretty roughly at first but ultimately will be animated. The style here is open for interpretation. Hopefully you can impress us!

• Terrain tiles: We need several terrain images to use as tiles for our game board. Imagine sort of a board game with some spaces covered by forests, others by mountains, others by a city, and so forth. We have a vision to make these backdrops in sort of a blown-glass, transparent style, if possible, in such a way that they are not "colored" by default but can become colored during the course of the game ... an artistic solution to enabling this functionality may be necessary.

In general: We'd ideally like artists who can work quickly and iteratively. Since there is a design phase in this, we want artists to be able to mock up quick sketches of different options so we can figure out what is best as a team. We are extremely open to artistic interpretation and welcome the idea of artists who want to do things their own way.

All compensation will be relative to the artist's quality of work, amount of responsibility taken on, and might even establish a basis for a closer and longer-term relationship with the company if we find the right person(s).

Please send us a message or respond to this post if you are interested or have any questions, preferably with links to or with attached art samples.

Thanks for your time!
