      Wonderful piece! The guy looks pretty severe and capable of many things. From a distance, it looks as though he is about to choke her, not embrace her. To me, it looks like it was painted in a way to suggest more than just love, but that there is either ulterior motives or at least more colorful than the scene depicts. He looks more dangerous and scary than romantic and endearing. I would not take it as a critique, but rather another way to view it. I think that makes the painting unique and could mean the painting has an interesting back story to the viewer, if even if that was not your intention. Both look like they have deep and interesting back stories and I think that is very hard to achieve in emotional pieces, especially where romance is concerned because it is often cliche. Just a thought...
