I started the Tattooed Skulls as a series of paintings about cultures where death is revered as a beginning rather than an end. The river of Three Crossing is an old Japnese belief that coins are send with the dead to aid on there journey. People that were good can cross at the shallow point of the River sanzu. People that were very bad have to pass in a treacherous part of the Sanzu guarded by a dragon. I love this stuff : )

Created for the Circus Freaks show at the iO gallery. 10x10" Digital Ektachrome custom mounted in ornate black oak frame and hand treated surface. Most people at the show had no idea they were digital.
