        Not sure, but I guess in real life round shapes would make better armor plates physics-wise. But oh the world of modern sci-fi.... lol

          The great thing about imagining all of these cool designs for sci-fi is that you could make up technologies that don't exist and this might justify form over function.

          The flat armored plates might be designed that way to generate an energy shield or for some other futuristic fancy function.

          Cool design.
