I see no way around now. I am going to have to dive into 3D rendering because I am picking my jaw off the ground every time I look at your work, and its beginning to hurt

seriously man you have some outstanding masterpieces that are so inspirational. May I ask what software you used for this? I will certainly hunt down the magazine, hopefully I can enjoy your tutorials to see how such a work was constructed.

    Keep up the awesome sauce!

Haha... thanks for the kudos Chuck! It's much appreciated and for what it's worth, I feel the same way you do on a daily basis looking at all the raw talent here on the Hub.
I use 3dStudio Max to model and Mental Ray for the renders. (although I'll confess that I'm slowly leaning towards the VRay renders ....might be worth looking into.) Then a heavy dose of PhotoShop to conceal my many, MANY imperfections. I've seen your beautiful work and thought that with your wonderful organic shapes you may want to consider using Zbrush as a base start. Just a thought.
If you're looking for a copy of 3dArtist magazine #50 they are unfortunately sold out, but I believe you can still download the digital copies for around 6 bucks. Otherwise, feel free to contact me if you have any questions along the way. I would be happy to help!
Thanks again Chuck and good luck~!

    Just awesome!
I just recently bought 3D Artists 50th issue because of your tutorial (more specifically, ordered the back issue from the site cause it was no long on stands). Between this and your Roach design, I'm inspired to try my hand at my own concept. Thank you for that. I've put my art on the back burner for some time and just recently started to try to focus on it again. Once done a concept I hope this to be one of my first real serious projects in my attempts to learn some of the different software out there.

This image was produced for 3dartist magazine's 50th issue with a building a mech tutorial. Honestly, I just enjoy having complete artistic freedom when doing personal work. Really glad you liked it!
