The Pygmy Palm dragon was one of the most plentiful of the dragon species. The species was first described in Egypt and was so named because of it's preference for nesting in the abundant palm trees along the river Nile. It fed mainly on rodents and fowl. This however led to it's decline as it was the bane of many a poultry farmer. The dragon also had a very unpopular habit of stealing gold, copper and silver jewellery off unsuspecting passers by in order to line their nests. They were killed on sight and their colonies were destroyed and plundered whenever found. The last pygmy palm dragon was reported to have died in captivity having lived 80 years in the private collection of Prince Habunabi the 3rd. However reports of this dragon persist in the remote parts of the world and hopes are high that a breeding colony may once again be found.
