Massive reusable launch vehicles deliver cargo to low Earth orbit, where cargo palettes are transferred to interplanetary vehicles and sent on their way throughout the solar system. Here cargo bound for Ganymede is being loaded into the exposed cargo section of one of these rockets. Regular shipping containers have become a hot commodity because they are a plentiful rigid structure that can be quickly re-purposed for habitat construction, and existing infrastructure permits their transport to launch sites easily. The shipping containers can be sealed with epoxy and lined with insulation, providing a great foundation for underground passageways and utility rooms on other worlds.
