While working at Goldtooth Creative i was lucky enough to work as lead CG, model uprez, texturing, shading, and lighting of all CG elements for the Deus EX: Purity First viral commercial. I was responsible for all CG shots, modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, rendering of the robotic appendages. It was a wicked experience with allot of freedom to really do great things at Goldtooth Creative. These Legs were rigged by Nate Breton, and while on set it was a great experience capturing hdri's with VFX sup Keegen Douglas who tought me so much on set.

We captured and processed our own hdri from on set, matching CG material to reality was a real learning experience, that evolved my lighting techniques.

You have a lot of images from this project, but since this one is the first one I saw, I'm posting this comment here.

Nice work, but it looks bland all by itself. It really sings when placed in context with the video (which you should have linked in your creators' comments section. It's a neat piece).

You also say the experience "evolved [your] lighting techniques." What changed for you? Do you have any techniques you want to share?

Thanks Drashi "TheArtMonkey"! Thanks for the positive comments. Ya these development images are alittle bland, and were developed further for the final renders, which i am trying to get together to post some production stills.

Advancing my lighting by capturing our own hdr's for each cg shot. We used several techniques for processing them into actual hdri images. I use and prefer to use the sIBL set-up, and process my hdri's with sIBLedit. This work-flow can get your CG into live action plates 1:1 without effort. I also used this for the Mortal Kombat: Legacy project.

I'm working on some tutorials and production logs to help illustrate the workflow.
