This is matte painting sketch for Grant Morrisons MBX, a new online animating series developed by Virgin Comics and Perspective Studios. It's based on the epic Indian poem, the Mahabhatara. The poem contains stories of Krishna and an epic battle that eventually destroys the whole earth....pretty heavy for a poem written thousands of years ago! I was asked to create a decaying city, a New York on steroids. I thought, even better...New York on crack!!:D

    The detail in this is amazing. I love the lighting. I've been looking at a lot of cityscapes lately, and this is just awesome. :)

    the detail it burns my very soul!
    very very nice work the realism is offset just enough by the fantasy aspect that it makes this a great imaginary landscape scene. I just love the sun peeking through the skyscrapers to illuminate the scene as well.

    The detail would be almost overwhelming if it weren't tied together so skillfully with light. I could stare at this thing for hours. =)

    Woow, this is insanely complex, and really very very impressive. The composition, this totally -crowded- look and your strong values really make for an awesome piece, it's a joy to look at this!
