This is an image based on The Battle of Yonkers in World War Z. Was done as spec work to try and get picked up on the upcoming film, directed by Marc Forster.

Done in PS, took about a week :)

    Outstanding scene!!

Just a little detail: the book clearly specifies that no soldiers were inside the buildings, only on the streets, and I see some of the shooting out of the windows

For the rest, I love it! Mad skills!

This has been a wallpaper of mine for over a year and it's even the standard wallpaper for my new PS3 now! This is JUST what a zombpocalypse would look like! EPIC!!! :D

Your execution is flawles in details and it's a pleasure just to wander around your work discovering them all.

However I find the overall lighting and composition to be confusing at some points.
The zombies a re lit by the explosion as expected, but most parts of the soldiers aren't - they are lit by a pretty strong source coming from the right which doesn't seem to affect anything but them - the tank for example isn't affected by this. While this alomst suggests a strong global light coming from the right, the buildings in the background show no sign of something like that.
I can't help but think that the gunfire of the foremost soldier should light the soldier standing up - but the lighting in the lower parts of thatb soldier seems to come from the explosion because of the diagonal shadows.

With the composition, I'm not sure as well. The weight of the picture is pretty much mirrored, as the buildings in the right balance the explosion in the left, which I find an interesting idea but it makes the whole scene seem somewhat static to me.

I hope that wasn't to long, I was always an admirer of your work and would have pointed these things out on DA but I feel that CGHUB is the more sophisticated plattform.

    Best of Luck to you!

Thanks man :) great pointers. I'll admit, the pic was difficult, as I'm not used to huge shots like this. But thanks for the advice!

Already commented on DA, but it's so amazing I can't help and have to write it once more. Your greatest piece ever.

(Me too, I'd like to learn from you ^^, but everybody would, right?)
