I'd like to be there, on a terraformed Mars (or one of the distant
past?), fishing in the rivers that might have been in Ares Vallis.
Been
working on this on and off since the beginning of February. It was
meant to be a quick, sharp piece, but I was displeased with the rocks,
and I had to start detailling them obsessively. That took a while.
Inspiration came from the surreal blue sunset shot by Spirit in 2005. The title is an (initially) unwitting nod to Ursula K. Le Guin.
This
is the fourth fisherman/boatman I've painted this year. I think there's
something I really like about water and fishing; it might just be a
state of mind!
