trying wacky color schemes, so started with warmer character colors, and a cooler complementary for background.

Then some, loose linework on top of the color blobs and then on top of that paint the shapes and form.
once charcaters are painted overlap them and start doing an abstract background design, using a photo and brushes to edit and repaint.

trying to keep everything around the same level of "care" jumping around and spending some more time on focal points.
