    Default Help I'm new!

Hello everyone, I am new to the website and kinda new to digital art. I got a tablet just recently and I have Corel Painter 12. I am looking for ways to improve myself in any way possible. I don't have any computer drawings just yet but I am gonna try to get some up soonish. I am not very good but I hope I can get some feedback from you all and tips. I will try to scan in some sketches that I have with me right now as soon as I can. Thank you

      Welcome!

My advice would to just get stuck in and get painting. just experiment and keep practacing regualary. if you need tutorials youtube is pretty good for tutorials and millions of tutorials online, depends what your looking for. if your looking for inspiration this site is amazing and it will probably keep you glued to your screen for hours :P

      Good luck

        Hi,how are ya?
My name's Tyler and I'm new here too! And as for suggestions for inspiration and stuff...I think I'd suggest looking at other artists and *gasp* copying a few of their pieces/altering them a bit.
I developed my own unique style by copying and studying how other people render their works of art and as far as I can tell,it helped me quite a bit!!

Welcome!I would like a graphic tablet that isn't too expensive. Do you guys have any recommendations? I was thinking of getting the wacom ctl-470k-en bamboo. anyone else use that? is it any good? Is there anything specific I should look for when buying the graphic tablet? I get really frazzled and intimidated in computer shops so any information will be helful.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I'm new here too! Just joined in yesterday.
If you want a really cheap graphics tablet that actually works, I recommed the Trust flex design tablet: it's only 17 €! I ordered it online and I've had it for a few months now. It works well for me
I have no experience with other tablets, but this is probably the cheapest you can get.
Good luck finding one that suits you!

Thanks all for giving me a welcoming! It feels good and I am now starting to draw more. Was busy for a while but am focused and ready. I will look around the site for inspiration and post something with ideas and see if I can get ideas bounced around for better visions. <3

Cooool. If you want to participate in the poles for a draw jam (or any other challenge) Feel free to look for the most recent 'active' one. the current draw jam is the character sheet i believe? If you participate in the active challenges you're more likely to get feedback and critique on your drawing. (which is of course a million times more important than being in the polls.) The challenges are geared towards helping artist learn, and at all levels. In my opinion, it might be intimidating, but the challenges are way more awesome if you partake in a current active one. There are plenty of people around here who would love to help you out.

Thank you very much for the information. I will look at the character sheet and see what I can do. As I said I am still learning and am not 100% sure how to make things look right if that makes sense. I am trying to find what kind of brush fits my style in Corel Painter 12. I can't seem to find one though, the few I used are really jagged on the sides, guess I just need to learn more about the program!

Hey there, I'm new to this site as well, just joined today actually. I'm not really familiar with 2d digital art either, I'm more experienced with 3d. Your dagger is looking good for being your first drawing in corel, I like it.

Welcome! You should just get started right away with your tablet, and get use to your new tool. Start by drawing straight line, arc lines, circle, ellipse..to build muscle memory in your arm. Gradually, drawing on the tablet will become more natural. Then you can move on to more complex subjects! Hope that helps!!
