Hey, guys!
I'm currently having internet issues at home, so I may not be very active during night time, however, I'm seeing some pretty impressive works already, a big thank you to everyone who is sharing their previous bird studies and I'd like to invite you all to join us in this challenge, we could all use your knowledge!
Also, please remember that a skeleton study of the bird of choice is required for the final entry, it doesn't have to be fully rendered, but it is required nevertheless, we've received some great sites to get reference from, so there shouldn't be a problem
I'll be doing some research myself and I'll upload my WIPs soon, thanks guys, and keep up the great work!

Leonzilla, may i ask what brush settings you used to paint that owl? that square-like brush gives such a good texture for the feathers.

@Azalin: Those are some great studies, it's clear you've been doing your homework great job! Can't wait to see your rendered mid flight artwork!

@Leonzilla: Wow, that's a beautiful artwork, marvelously done, man! Remember to also include some skeleton sketches of your study case, but your doing just awesome!

@TwoDD: Awesome, this challenge seems just right for you then Awesome studies, man, to what kind of bird does that skeleton belong to? Keep up the great work, I really wanna see your rendered image!

@Owl: Great skull studies, I also checked out that website and it's got some great reference material to work from. I'm not an expert, but is that the skull of a swan?

@guilhermegarcia: Great work so far, try to add a little bit more contrast between feathers, at their tips specifically, to add some extra realism to your image. Also, try looking for some skeletal reference of this type of bird. For the final entry you'll require a skeletal study of the same bird you're rendering. If you can't find an exact reference for this bird, try looking for birds that would fit the body type of the Sterna Fuscata (small birds or seabirds for example)

@Irawan: Great to have you participating, man, and you're off to a rocket start, awesome detail on the skeleton and the rendering is going excellent, as always, great work!

Thanks a lot Amaakir, that skeleton belongs to a Pigeon which I was using to study the basic structure of all birds. Along with chickens there seem to be a lot of pictures of those on the internet.

Here is my actual bird skeleton that I choose to study, the Bald Eagle. I was inspired by the Bald Eagle family on Ustream which is great to watch, I'd recommend it.

Anyways, great work everyone. A lot of inspiring artwork to look at.

@Irawan: That looks fantastic, impressive work as always, Irawan!

I really reeeeeeeeeally wanna start sketching, but I'm getting a bit flooded with homework, work, personal projects and other stuff, and I really could use the studies on bird anatomy.
I'll get something up tomorrow, promise!

Wow absolutely amazing irawan! Now I don't feel like posting anymore, but I will.

I know the skeleton was the only requirement, but irawan inspired me to take my anatomy studies a bit further. Here is an update of my bald eagle now with muscles.
