Default Freelance Discussion: From Green to Godly

    Hey everyone,
My name is Mike Ackerman, I am currently a freelance artist who met a bunch of other freelance folks at GDC 2012 this year. We decided to start a forum thread to help each other grow as freelancers, so this is it! Feel free to join the Discussion!

      Danyol Murphy Asks:

Our most pressing question is how did you decide on your rates with your clients and how does it vary from project to project?

      Much appreciated!

I have just started freelancing so I base my rate on my living expenses and my proficiency level. I try to propose an hourly rate with a time estimate for completion. Of course this will vary depending on the project, but I try to make sure my estimate for the amount paid and hours spent end up close to my minimum rate. Again, please take this with a grain of salt because I am super green at this ! But that has been my experience so far.

        Hope that helps!

Good thing to start something like this

-> Deciding the rates- Just check this link for Rates
        http://freelanceswitch.com/rates/

You know i came across this article

It is a Web series made by a bunch of artists from over 30 countries who have never seen each other(face to face).

        Quote:
A new sci-fi web series teams Hollywood visual effects artists with a global scattering of up-and-coming animators, all of whom are working for free to craft CGI elements for a wigged-out futuristic saga.

We as a group can surely do something like this
