@ProofPudding: I did a paintover over your original drawing. I kinda had to rebuild the whole construction lines in order to find out what was kinda off to me.
First I determined that she was leaning a lot to her left, so straightening her out was the greatest issue I could find. I think her head is a little, tiny bit too big also, and took the liberty to fix her breasts, which in my opinion were a bit too separated considering the guide lines once I had straightened her out. Also, her feet seemed to be on 2 different perspective views so I fixed that a bit also. Notice how the weight of her body falls on a certain leg/foot, you can discover this by posing as your character (It's silly doing it, so be sure to be alone when you do so lol) so it must be more rigid than the leg without that much weight. As an extra, raise her shoulders a little, you should notice (if you pose as your character) how your shoulders are a tad raised, specially if you're carrying a big gun on one arm. The biggest issue, I repeat, was her leaning towards the left, it gave her a lot more credibility once I straightened her out. Don't take my doodles too seriously since I did them in my break from work, but I think that checking the stuff that I'm writting down here will help your character a lot. I hope it helps and thank you for letting me help you out ![]() |

Still early days, didn't have time to do any more until today... Trying to keep in mind the whole dress up thing with the fashion and all. Gonna start to block out some more gear and stuffnstuff on here now, I think.
And at some point I need to get the light right. O.o Geez, didn't realise it was so far off before now! |

@notpill I am loving that steampunk canon!
@ororo that is a cool looking sketch, cant wait for the next update @trailofcrumbs cant wait to see how your sketches turn out, especially the one on right and on bottom @Amaakir haha, love your character, such strong personality. For some reason, to me her breast plate makes her look a bit too viking-esque just realized her cannon is phallic shaped....hm... Last edited by HyunjaeLee; 03-16-2012 at 11:09 AM. |

@Ewaldus: Loooooooove the inking, man, awesome detail and sweet expression. I want colors, NAO
@HyunjaeLee: thxs for the feedback! Yea, I also got that feeling from her breastplates also, I'll have to come with something up to make it more steampunk. Nice progress btw! What just bothers me a bit is that she doesn't quite look like a "she" lol I'm aware that you tried to get her to be a lot more tough looking, but even her body gives no hint of her being a woman. And about the weapon...hm...lol jk, I really didn't notice any weird on it's shape until you brought it up haha @sorknes: Haha, that happens to me all the time when I start adding some background, but it's really looking good! Remember taking into account the colors of your background and how they would bounce ounto your character, try adding some whites and light blues when you get more into fleshing out the light and shadows of your Cora. @notpill: Awesome colors, it definitely brings the feeling of a propaganda poster and I love the idea. I'm just in awe with the detail and how well done the weapon is, I'm really eager to see you take this to the next step! @trailofcrumbs: Thnxs for the feedback, I'm glad you liked the concept I don't think your character needs more Steampunk, it will definitely get more steampunk once you start getting some color in your design. The hat-helmet however does give her a somewhat asian soldier look in my opinion. Keep up the good work!I'll be travelling all day long, and will have a busy weekend at school, however I'll use the computers there to try to finish my Cora, great concepts and artwork allready! |
