yakuza- Thank you so much for the encouragement man. I appreciate it a lot. I'm glad you pointed out 'personality' - it's very important to me and I enjoy designing from that perspective a ton. I miss a lot of the old fantasy-driven creature designs.
Voodoo-Mama- Thanks for the visit man. I like the turtle too! He's got some charm. For linework, I find I've learned everything from just putting real pencil to paper but I do enjoy the digital lines too once in a while =D Plus I've got pretty bad posture when working infront of a screen haha. Mr Brown- Thanks! Will do sir! Visit again soon. =P I did some sketches of my own interpretation of Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter, Caterpillar and just rough ups of some Alice faces, younger and older. I'd like to do more of the other characters soon- that jabberwocky creature is whacky as hell. ![]() ![]() ![]()

kevin- Cheers man, thanks for the kind words.

Voodoo-Mama- Hey again! Yeah man, definitely. You read my mind. I've been trying to refresh myself on the digital paints.
Here's a quick preview while I power through the cobwebs of tablet hell.

Still experimenting with ways to handle digital mediums comfortably.
I'm going to take a couple of days, maybe weeks, to figure it out. I like some parts of this. ![]()

Some more digital paint practice. Feeling a lot more intuitive, found the right tools and settings... going to keep exploring. Crapped out a sketch in the end.
I've been doing some anatomy studies in pencil. I'll try post those soon. If you guys need a good 3D ecorche/figure reference there's a fantastic ipad app at http://md3dinc.com/ by the fantastic Michael Defeo, who is a character designer and sculptor. It's definitely one of the best references you can get for free if you can't afford a high-end ecorche yet, like myself. ![]() ![]()

kevin- Thanks. I hope so too! I think it's helping.
MrBrown- Haha, thanks man. Along with keeping up the studies and sketches, I started sculpting a couple of days ago. I didn't have any time to buy some sculpey so I made due with the digital stuff. I've been really excited about all the work done in sculpture for a few years, so it's great to finally dive in. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I figure with all this sculpting, I may not be able to keep this sketchbook anymore in the 2D corner. But for now here's another one. Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
