Hey every one. Decieded to join in on this one. Been working on this a little off and on the last week. Wanted to give this image a sticky moist alien jungle feel. I worked alot of trying to get interesting textural detail in the image. I'd say I spent about 7 hours or so all in all on this. Looking forward to seeing every one elses work (seems a bit empty in here at the moment).

It was a typical Monday inside the concrete jungle. Accountants busily punching in numbers, newly grads nervously waiting in line for an interview, and somewhere, a boss yelling at an intern for taking an extra five on lunch break.

In the mist of everyone's day to day routine, suddenly, the earth below them shook, and a huge piece of the ground broke from the park where it once resides, and slowly rose into the sky. Some people curse at this unexpected phenomenon for causing traffic, while others look up in awe. This floating new world is unlike anything they've seen. The rocks and earth formed a yin-yang shaped island as it rises into the sky. Wind carves a huge black rock into a statue of Buddha. Sparkling water flows out under the statue and fills the whole land. A dogwood, unlike the carefully trimmed trees in the city parks and roof tops, grows tall and wild. Its snow white petals flows with the wind and turns into clouds. While gazing at this new world, a sense of peace and happiness fills everyone's heart, something they couldn't achieve with their rank nor the material goods they work so hard to possess. This wonderful sensation lift them up into the air, and for the first time, they experienced the joy of a fish swimming in the sky.

The whole idea was inspired by a recent event, which made me rethink about my life. I pretty much gave up my dreams in art before, but now I felt I shouldn't let it go as long as I'm alive.

A more detailed explanation of the illustration is on my blog (http://sketchybrainless.blogspot.com/). In short, the city in the illustration represents the life I've been told to live in, following rules and work to make a living. The floating new world represents the opposite, a strange place out of the norm and yet still gives you a sense of peace and happiness.

About this subject Other Worlds, i think of a group of characters discovering a new world not necessary round where lives this alien heads and both races coexist. and the new visitor is made his path. The monkeys come from a far away planet less evolve and make is jorney.

Lots of great enteries here. I did many versions of this painting and ran out of time. Here is my entery. A new world discovered by a lone explorer, where meck meets plantlife and the source of energy is water.
