Emotion play a very important role when you are working as an artist...It is a crucial factor which effects our mood while we our working!
So it totally depends on the outcome you are looking forward to as an artist or as a person! I enjoy silence or nuetral music like mozart or Beethoven... Mostly Instrumental which helps me to concentrate. But before work or starting my day, I always look for songs that pumps me up or look for ads on Youtube that do the same to get me going.. Now days, there are more things to worry about than to enjoy! So it's very important to stay motivated! And all time must have track on my playlist is Rocky- Eye of the Tiger !And My Get going line.... ![]() the world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and i don't care how tough you are ..it will beat to your knees and keep you there if you let it. you , me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. that's how winning is done. If you know what you're worth, go and get what you're worth..but you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him or her or anybody! Cowards do that, and that ain't you! You're better than that! Beethoven was deaf and still created the master pieces...so why don't we !To pump everyone else.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPO354_ugF8 |

I always try to go for something that gives me the feeling wanted for the project. For something calm it might be new age or classical, but if we have something more... intense, then industrial or goth might be the answer.
Some inspirations... Tao for piano Beethoven Ray Charles Emilie Autumn Scary B*tches Bach And so on Using Music while I work is like invoking the mood I want. It is almost impossible for me to listen to anything with words and remember what was playing. In my head i'm telling myself the story behind the picture. But even if it isn't heard it still sets the mood. |

Jpop because I have taste in music... [/sarcasm]
Well, I mean, pop music is pretty brainless, so I don't have to pay much attention to the lyrics, and being one who's raised on anime/manga, they just feel natural to me... [/excuse] |

I've always found my Infected Mushroom playlist is a pretty good go-to resource when it comes for music to calmly draw and paint to, very few lyrics and generally just quite relaxing.
Of course if I have other songs that I use for more specific moods like the medieval genre but those aren't played nearly as often :P |

I agree pretty much totally with Zentrope - I use a lot of metal music to really start the day but when I just want to lie back, relax and just sink hours into a painting I'll switch to smooth jazz.
Two specific kinds of music for two very different purposes, and both go a long way to altering your emotional state. |

I listen to a large variety of music, but always seem to find my way to the Tragically Hip when sketching... Black Flag is great when developing more aggressive car designs.
Lately, I've been listening to commentary and DVD extra's tracks as I work, as well. Sometimes they're quite entertaining (the commentary on 'Talladega Nights', for example is outstandingly funny).
