If anyone wants to sculpt a kickass sculpture from clay or sculpey for any of the competitions. GO FOR IT! As far as requirements go for this challenge: clay/ sculptey : must show WIPS and sculpting process (would be cool for people without knowledge to learn) (armature, rough form, posing , detail, etc) Front , 3/4 and back shot of sculpt. *The same still applies to these* ~ Sculpt/ Model a gargoyle of your choosing, there are many types. ~ Sculpt/ Model it in mid transformation from stone to flesh. Model a small set piece for it to stand on. or ~ Sculpt/Model it as in its killing blow. * The thief does not need to be highly detailed. In fact I'd prefer something incredibly rough and perhaps even just a silhouette, be creative but don't waste time on it. (combination of the 2 would be cool as well. ex. Gargoyle leaping from its perch while transforming) |

Hey guys! Lots of great ideas floating around. Here is mine. I was originally going to go with the classic gothic gargoyle on the ledge, but then decided that that didnt lend itself well to thieving and capture, unless he was swooping down and what have you.
So, instead I went with a gargoyle holding up some kind of platform / table that holds the sacred treasure. The idea here is that the gargoyle is supposed to ward / scare off any potential thieves, be its protector so to speak. When the thief approaches, the gargoyles tail comes to life to stab him in the back! Blam! I think that I am going to have a lot of fun with this challenge. Any critiques and comments will always be welcomed. Not much to critique right now seeing as it is all concept, but once I get in to the sculpting portion, have at it. ![]() Cheers!

Just a quick up date on where am with is project here’s some sketch work for my idea, I like the thought of the gargoyle entwined with is surroundings in my case it’s the architecture.
The age of the gargoyle is depicted by the age of the building it belongs to, however there comes a time the gargoyle needs to escape this is the main premise of my idea. (Gargoyle escaping from entrance) Also a speed painting of my gargoyle before transformation help’s form the sculpting process. |
