Default 3D Creature Planets #15 : Gargoyles

~Challenge Begins Saturday, January 21. 12:00 pm EST~

This month Challenge is Gargoyles!

Gargoyles have been around for centuries as a protector of buildings to ward off evil spirits and intruders, etc. Fierce, grotesque, monstrously fantastical dragonlike beings that are made of stone, perhaps captured and enchanted that way in eternal servitude to protect its master. Awakening when an intruder comes too close or tries to break in... the sound of grinding stone and flapping of wings is the last sound the thief will hear...

There are many looks and descriptions of a gargoyle to be found on the internet.... check them out. wikipedia has some good information on them, Google too.

REQUIREMENTS:

~ Sculpt/ Model a gargoyle of your choosing, there are many types.
~ Sculpt/ Model it in mid transformation from stone to flesh. Model a small set piece for it to stand on.
or
~ Sculpt/Model it as in its killing blow. * The thief does not need to be highly detailed. In fact I'd prefer something incredibly rough and perhaps even just a silhouette, be creative but don't waste time on it.

(combination of the 2 would be cool as well. ex. Gargoyle leaping from its perch while transforming)

* For clay or sculptey figures you do not need to paint them, but would be cool if you had time to do it.*
* Front, 3/4 and back shots for these as well.*

~ Grey Scale front view
~ Textured 3/4 view
~ Textured Beauty shot. Use night lighting, by moonlight, torch etc. Again be creative.

~Examples~

Ryan's free webinars have been really awesome lately. Lots of great info even for those of us who can't afford the full courses.

I apologize for being new and ignorant about this particular challenge thread, but is this restricted to digital media only, or is it ok to post submissions in traditional media? I had trouble finding guidlines and got confused by all the different challenge threads.

Hi, no problems. This is a 3D CGI challenge only, you might want to check out the 2D challenges forum. Cheers

I'm sure people are looking for concepts for this challenge, so maybe someone here would like to collabrate with you and turn your 2D concept into 3D.

I kind of interpreted the question as, "Can you model something in clay instead of using software." I assume that's still a no, but I don't think it was a question of 2d vs 3d.

Default Here we go agin... another attempt by me

Last contest I ran into some technical issue and bad planning.
Hopefully I can get further with this one.
              So I am trying again.
I have attached my concept. Did most of the concept in my sketch book, but scanner is not working, so this is a quick concept from PS
I will start the 3d base today or tomorrow if time allows.

Sorry still having problems posting the image large since I do not have a URL for the image.

-very nice concept inkyspot , just click little arrow near the green

paperclip and then click the uploaded image and it will appear in

the post , also use the preview post button to check if it is ok.

Pay Attention of the pose of your character ,will be cool to see

the gargoyle crouching on the top of one grave or maybe

              one gothic church.
