Default Garchomp used Dragon Rush!

Thanks everyone, I always appreciate it!

It's been busy lately, but today I have my finished Pokemon Garchomp to share.
I always liked the look of this guy even though I never played Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, which is why I choose to do him next.

For my next Pokemon I am planning to do Arcanine which should be a lot of fun and different compared to all the reptilian-like Pokemon I do.

What can I say, I love my lizards.

I also wanted to just share a close-up of the painting which is actually 1/2 the original size I work in. Hopefully people can learn a little from all those little nitty gritty details.
I should also have a step-by-step .gif, video, tutorial, whatchamacallit soon to show everyone some of my steps.

That is it for now, thanks for looking and I hope everyone enjoys!

Process for this piece that I promised a few people:

I know it doesn't explain much as to what I do, so I will try to explain it here.

The first set of steps is me sketching in the line art, blocking in and establishing colors, and painting in the background.

I was using a Z Brush Model for this whole process, not as a base for my colors like my Golem piece, but primarily as a reference for lighting and values.

A few steps after that I am trying to figure out the right colors for Garchomp that will make sense with the background. This includes using a lot of blending layers like overlay to get exactly what I want. Of course there is a lot experimenting and intuition involved, because I still feel I am a little weak with colors.

After I get the colors down, I can basically color pick and choose my dark and lights and build up on the form, often using overlay to pump the saturation up a bit if it is getting too dull. Also, there are often times I will bring in texture stock to speed up the texturing process. It feels like a bit of cheating, but in the end I honestly just repaint over the whole thing and use it primarily as a guide.

After everything is pretty much rendered there is just a lot of adjusting to do in order to get the anatomy and composition right.

I would also like to note that Liquify has to be the greatest tool in Photoshop to adjust areas. I only discovered it recently and holy crum it's magical. Love it!

Anyways, if anyone has any specific questions then shoot them this way and I'll be glad to answer. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone enjoys!

You are all quite welcome, I am so glad you enjoyed the process. I know I keep saying this but maybe the next step is Livestream.

Anyways, this guy familiar? I hope so, this guy, the Carowyrm (meat wyrm), is a totally revamped version of my Derp Dragon, Cardinal Fu Dragon and Fu Dragon that you all have seen around

So why attempt to redesign this guy so many times? Because I freaking love him, and I loved him so much that I tried to design a story based on the newest design (the Cardinal Fu) that totally failed miserably. I realized that my creature couldn't possibly exist, or even survive in the real world, and I decided because I couldn't come up with a story behind my Cardinal Fu (because it's freaking implausible!) that I will create a similar type of creature based on my story.

And I had a blast doing it, I honestly haven't had this much fun designing a creature in a long time, probably because none of my creatures have a back story.

Anyways, I sketched this up as my own reference (color soon to come, but the color is pretty much the same as my Cardinal Fu) because I am planning to make another soft sculpture similar to my Cardinal Fu Dragon.

        Yeah, inspiration does wonders.

Thank you all for looking and I hope you all enjoy!

Thank you mjasnowski! The belly and his head are my favorite parts.

Today I have a few things to share. To start, I have an update on the lines I posted a few days ago. Just sketched in a few more details for me to read and understand as I am sculpting this guy.

Default Doodles and Carowyrm sculpture progress!

Hey everyone, have a few updates to share with all of you. First, I have a few doodles I did over the week to show, one being a baby dragon and another being a demon-cow man

This one ended up horribly adorable.

And this one ended up horribly ugly, but I still like him.

Finally an update on my Carowyrm sculpt.

At this point he looks like this:

But soon he will look like this:

Thanks for looking and I hope you all enjoy!

Wah I'm so excited to see you sculpting again! I can't wait for more updates! ^_^

Also I was at the zoo yesterday and seeing an alligator snapping turtle totally reminded me of you, haha.

Ha ha, thank you very much stace! I could see why you thought of me when you saw a snapping turtle, I do have a thing for those not-so-pretty animals.

Right! No sketches lately because I am lame. I do, however, have an update on my soft sculpture piece of my Carowyrm. Finished the hard sculpture part of it today, now I am moving on to the fabric. Pics of that are soon to come.
