Alright crits and lineart.
aimmonkey- crazy design and head going on there. The growth is very recognizable, but in such a large creature all the additional features seem hard to believe as a natural growth process. However as an insectoid it is most possible, plus, I'm probably not seeing everything I should. Looking forward to more of your progress. Berends- nice work so far. I like the emotion and height built in your creature. Looking forward to the smaller cuter version. t-cube- Just from the silhouette I can tell the similarities and growth between them. I'm guessing they aren't to scale though I would however be careful with the humanoid rule on them. Remember gorilla if you must!jonastecher- just curious, is that the head or the whole creature I can see it going either way. I like how you went in quite an alien direction. That will make things interesting! lys- I'm thinking either 1 or 3 both have a level of power to them that lends itself to be a "giant." Good luck with the work ahead on actual sketches and such. And here is my progress in lineart form ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

Some excellent starts this round! :O I'll be back to make more comments. Keep it up you guys! Don't be afraid to help each other out too!
![]() **Also, there was a restriction added to this challenge. Try to steer away from humanoid forms. - as in it shouldn't stand completely upright like a human and have flat feet and five fingers. We want to explore other anatomy for these types of things. I don't see anybody struggling with it now but just keep it in mind!

Some cool ideas being thrown around here, nice work evreyone.
Vasshpit - I like the head design on that, very interesting face. Nicholas Foong - That is an interesting concept to combine meat and soil, the challenge will be to keep it visually interesting. Here's what I came up with over the weekend.

I'm hoping to finish this... one day if not by deadline here is the start of my base colors on the adult and child.
Hopefully crits later. Adult ![]() By tydar_dude at 2012-01-10 Child ![]() By tydar_dude at 2012-01-10 Edit: Oh and I'm not showing all of the adult because it is a blimp-like creature so at full size you can't see the facial detail well, so ... yeah Last edited by tyrus; 01-10-2012 at 09:28 PM. |

Nicholas Foong - It's definitely interesting to look at now, and very strange, lots of little details like those flowers really push the feeling of scale. It will be interesting to see the head design for that.
AIMonkey - The refined sketch of your creature turned out nicely, and creepy. I can only imagine what that might have looked like as a toddler, interested to see how you envision that part of it. rzan - good start, keep it up! I wasn't totally happy with the clunky dinosaur body on mine, so I revised it to be a little more sleek and agile. Hope to finish the other elements before the deadline, but it's going to be tight.
