Attempting a last minute entry >_< Creature design isn't my strength by any means so crits welcome. Also I'm not sure how dark this image appears on other monitors so if it's too dark please let me know

I tried writing a background story this time as well:

The bioluminescent demigod is a symbol of hope for the peoples that worship it. It is very rarely seen, but those who manage to catch even a glimpse of this elusive creature are considered to e blessed by the gods themselves. Once every millennium, the demigod rises to the surface near the main high temple dedicated to it and masses come from around to witness this once in a lifetime event. Some say it rises to the surface at the end of its life and a new demigod is born of its remains, others say its appearance symbolizes good luck for the new millennium. One thing is for sure though, in the only recorded instance that the demigod failed to appear only tales of unrivaled destruction and terror are told…

I started to do some studies and put down a few ideas. I think I'm going to develop #8 and go with a more humanoid look.

AWWWW YEEEA, Pepper's on the challenge, things are gonna get serious around here XD
@Virev: Interesting design, looks like a Sea Dragon, Im interested in seeing how you'll add the bioluminiscence to it

@MrBrown: Your take no.3 on your creature looks wicked, I really like its silhouette and the color's just awesome, I cant wait to see some further progress!
@Sandu22: Interesting design, kinda reminds me of pokemon

You still got time, so if i may, maybe try giving some more detail on reflected light on the ground. Everything has a texture to it and kinda merges and the red light that bounces on the ground is a bit harsh and looks a bit off from the whole painting. just my 2 cents tho

@Wildbrew: How about adding some element that throws an idea of just how big your creature is? At the moment it looks like a regular jellyfish to me, try morphing it a bit, add elements from other sea creatures and try to give it some more punch
@PepperWheel: Nice background story and sweeet progress on your entry, I can't believe you made it so far in just one days work lol I love the creepyness behind your creature, I can't wait to see you take it further!

Great work from everybody, I really gotta get started on this, I'll split myself in 2 if I have to :P

Quick update. I made the head smaller and the overall image brighter... I think it looks better now although maybe I should tone it down a bit?

@Pepperwheel : Your creature is awesome! I love it! Great work on the head; it looks really creepy, but not in an evil or bad way. I think the tones are fine as they are in your last post. Keep it up!

@parpica : The creature design of the bottom of your 1st image is great! I hope you manage to finish it for the Finals, looking forward to see your illustration!

Well, heres what I got so far. It's 4 am, im exhausted and I havent finished my homework and I dont think I will and neither will I finish my entry for this round :S That makes me really sad. Tons of work and homework and stuff and I gotta travel tomorrow meaning I wont be able to do anything else...Anyway, I'll cheer for the rest of you, good luck all!
