Nice entries so far lot of potential in them and I can't wait to see how they progress.

Hello all. This is my first post as well as my first submission. I am very new to graphic arts but have been drawing traditionally my whole life.
I started this piece several months ago but never finished it, then I saw this contest and decided it was time to post.
I don't have a concept sketch so I hope it is still viable as an entry. If not oh well.

I plan on changing quite a few aspects about this piece. C&C always appreciated.
Also good work on the submissions so far. GL all!

Wanted to get something for this.

So I started out. Early days yet, but from the thumb I liked the most. Still trying out the colours, since that's what causes me the most trouble.

Wanna go nipplesafe on it, since I have a feeling my niece might want a copy, she currently loves mermaids. (Yeah, I live in Scandinavia, sideboobs is ok, violence is not.)

          Ok, some feedback and stuffs.

          Alright!

Vasshpit: I don't know about Characterforge, but usually rules state that you have to do an original image for each round. That does not mean that we don't relish whatever attempts people has had on the topic earlier, I love it.

A78: Lovely! I really enjoy the whole dish thing! Just make sure that the fish there is just getting equal attention, or better, less attention, than the mermaid.

nylelevi:Not that much to go on, but a nice idea. Keep going

Yulcha: As long as it is pinup, which basically means bodies to enjoy, I'm sure anything goes, including princesses. Good start!

Ramso: Good start! Head and body should be a bit more proportional in my mind (head a bit too big at the moment), and that breast is in no way resting in that piece of cloth, but can't wait to see your further progress on shadows and colour!

InkMech: very interesting! Not much more to say at the moment, looking forward to what you're bringing in. Rough looks good!

JSolorzanoArts: As always, liking your stuff. Just remember to latch whoever into the back ground, so it doesn't look too air brushed! Good work so far! Put reality in there, because they are good, make sure the colours in the area around is mirrored in your character. Pull the colours into the midts. (And I know, I know! My biggest problem too!)

TwistedKitty: Absolutely love the sailor tattoo. And the whole idea. Just make sure the face fits size wise, right now that looks like a sketch from ref, while the face looks slightly cartoonish. Balance one way or the other, and it's a GREAT piece

GwynMcDeath: Make sure your shadows are spent right in the picture. Put a doll, or a banana, or something, in front of a desk light, and see how the shadows fall. Great start, great forms, but be careful on how you build your forms!

Looking good so far everyone. Just a slight update for now, I'm doing everything but painting properly tonight! LOL! Getting there with some textures ideas and whatnot though. Prolly going into a totally different direction tomorrow when I've had some sleep.

Ok, so I have been busy redoing some areas that just did not sit well with me.
Also I would appreciate an official answer as to if this is a viable entry or not as Technically I started before the contest announcement BUT did not finish.

                Post ...

                Sorknes - thank you for the answer...what a shame,I always thought,that pin-up is specific style,that shows ideal half-naked woman with specific makeup,cloth,hairstyle like in american 1940...But i think,it`s retro pinup,something like that..=\.. i am a little sad =)
                oh well,next step...
                A78 - oh man,it`s a guro ...= P,interesting look on sexiness)

Thanks for the nice words , I ended doing an image a little bit too bizarre but well , maybe I can try another version , theres plenty of time left .
great updates of Yulcha and Sorknes (love how the image gain nice atmosphere adding that blue on the shadows).

                  New update>

Almost done, I just need to rework the colors in the background, maybe add some clouds or a wooden shipwreck in the back- it needs something.

                      Hi everyone !
Great images in this challenge ! I don't know yet the way I'm following. So I start with sketches to find the good posing that will stick to the mood I want. It's pencil and watercolour pencils. See you soon.
