Ola hombre
![]() Sweet take on Mike's ( the other Mike ) creature. Keep working on it.About studies, values and all sort of artistic issues we all have… Personally I do not a lot of studies and not of high detailed work as well. I do like my style as it is and if clients want something else - well, there are many other artist they are way better than me. One of the important things is that you have fun in what you're doing!!! Thats what really count (imo). I don't know how many times I tried to forth me to do studies and - failed But I'll keep doing what I do and I learn a lot with every image.Best example is today - was a really bad day. Wasn't able to let the creative juice flow and to bring something on paper/canvas. I'm currently doing some research for another test I'm commissioned. Started painting, hated it, closed it and opened up Firefox. And thats good 'cause you browsing the web and see what other artist are able to do. Look at those works, ask what they had in mind while doing that, what kind of brushes they used, etc… This is also studying - just a different way. Spend some time to analyze the images, close it, squeeze your brain, open up PS and paint as hell. Studies are nothing else than a learning curve - and this curve only belong to your specific needs. At least thats how I handle it. Hope that gives a small glance on how I see thing and on how I try to improve. Take care and keep pushing my friend! best

cute calaverita! (quiero unAaAaa xD )
I like the 3d work you're doing, I hope you'll post more updates in the future, specially with the texturing, which is the fun part in my humble opinion :P When it comes to studies, I do them because it's an area I lack that I want to fix, and they're fun haha. I guess it depends on where you are as an artist and where you want to go. The crow is looking good! I can't give much advice on rendering the feathers, sorry :/ |

Hey guys, thnxs a lot for all of your cheers and support
I've been, extremely quiet in a while, for that, I am sorry. I just got back to the Master's and the job has gotten extremely heavy recently and I've been receiving all these university invitations to go and give some speeches about being an illustrator and all that stuff. Don't ask me, I'm as baffled as you all are right now. Truth be said, I guess people here in Mexico are over reacting to seeing some local dude do some random drawings. Long story short, I've been through hell, I'm really eager to get back on the hub's challenges and I've got that Inkblot initiative creature waiting too, I just can't find the time nor the energy to do so, tons of homework and I've been bringing work back home these last couple of days. Anyway, don't think I'm just gonna waste your time with my drama, I got some sketches to show off and get some feedback if possible ![]() Been dying to do a Nautilus Fan Art, Nautilus is one of my favorite heroes on League of Legends. Also, a random creature doodle. I've been wanting to go for a big and epic artwork, lots of characters involved and a lot of storytelling also. The scene will be depicting one of the most epic battles my friends and me had when playing Vampire the role playing game. We got caught up trying to banish this huge demon but he had an army that was besieging us while his physical form was on us too, at the same time, one of the players went into a trance and had to battle the demon in his spiritual form while 2 other players had to complete a ritual to seal him for good. took us 4 sessions to finish that battle lol I was attempting to enter the Hon fan art contest, but given the amount of work I have and considering the deadline for an entry (this very Friday) I don't think I'll make it, anyway, I also wanted to do an Accursed Fan Art lol my favorite tanky / support hero in Heroes of Newerth Did the skeleton for the creature based on Mike Correiro's doodle. Next step is to build the muscles and then do a rendered shot of the creature. Please ignore the weird, badly done alien head on the left, thnxs ![]() Thnxs for reading guys! OH! I nearly forgot, I applied to a job at Riot Games XP I'm making a fool of myself, but I guess it's pretty much worth the shot. A leap of faith, at least, I'll start trying to reach better and higher places :P |

Crossin my fingers for you on the Riot Games job! not much to crit on the sketches, I think there might be some slight perspective issues with the space guys/astronauts feet. Would be cool to see the Knight/Demon character pushed further, shading, etc.

Thnxs for the warm wishes!
@mjasnowski: Yea, I did see that while sketching (Theres a barely noticeable line proving my mistkae right there on the sketch :P) Thing is, once the sketch is kinda done, I get lazy and correct that kind of issues on Photoshop XD I just forgot to do those before uploading these hehehe @Kherns: Yea, I agree, but considering I was traveilng on a bus out of town while I was drawing that, I think it went well ![]() Pffff, 3D total rejected my submission of Johny "Ojo Muerto" to the 2D Artist gallery on their magazine _-_ I guess I need a looooooot more work then... Remember all the conference invites that I was getting, well, yesterday I went to the first one. I was very nervous at first, but the energy all around was very positive and well received. In order to make the presentation a little more fun for the students, I made meme versions of the characters from the Waranee project and I just wanted to share them with you all They're 100% cartoon and not all that artistic or anything, and I've really got no sketches to show off, but I thought it would be fun to maybe share a smile or two with you guys, as I had a lot of fun with this experience Thnxs for reading! I'll post some more serious stuff soon! |

really cool sketches! I think you should try shading them, that would make them pop out.
I really like these last cartoons, they're very cute. my favorite is the racoon (is it a racoon?) and the guy with the mask. Sorry about people rejecting Ojo Muerto :C , don;t give up, keep trying! Good luck on the rest of your conferences! ![]() |

As far as your question goes concerning studies, I think it depends on how you feel about your art and whether you feel you could benefit from them. Don't think because you aren't studying constantly that your not progressing or doing something wrong, studies are just a means to an end of sorts, and every artist is unique in how they use the tools and experiences available to them
