How is the fairy "hybrid" ?

Description seems to be for an illustration?

Well I'm a bit late for this, but I decided to do a quick sketch before I head out to the land of dreams.

Just wanted to share what I have planned in my head so far. besides the soft glow on her I wanted to keep the colour scheme cool and using contrast to make the Faerie stand out more. Using the soft glow as a warmer colour to give her warmth while using dark cooler colours in the background and on the wolfs to help bring the focus on her.

          Default Updates

Got an updated version of my pic to finish, but first my comments on the others so far

iuvo - Thanks, i'm glad you like it, i have used ref for everything to try and make it better than my usual stuff! I like the framing light on yours a lot, really adds to the mystery that she is in silhouette.

GwynMcDeath - Nice idea having the humans in there, makes a good story. I considered that but went with a lazier route :P I'd check your anatom against some reference, and also flip your image in photoshop to catch stuff like the face which is a bit wonky at the moment keep going!

JSolorzanoArts - Amazing sketch so far! She looks really innocent and i love the details on her. I think it might help to extend the canvas upwards to let them breathe a bit more.

hekatoncheir - Lovely pencils so far, she has a very mysterious magical fairy look to her which i like, i love the empty slanted eyes. Check your anatomy as her hips aren't looking too solid at the moment Love your shading!

DougWelsh - Good start so far, not much to say other than looking forward to seeing more

mickmowat - Really love the third composition! Very dynamic

Dashofcinnamon - Nice dynamic sketch, shows her wild side a bit more i think!

Ok so here's my update. Spent most of my time today on the characters, and i've just started repainting the background. Wanted to mute the colours a bit from those bright blues! Also gonna repaint her markings later with a thinner brush as they are a bit too strong at the moment i think.

That's a good question, it's a "hybrid" solely for the purpose of this round, but to give a background story - in this challenge faeries are known to exist as creatures of light, and look nothing like the human form. Selva has been manifested into human form, with human blood, organs, etc, but she's still a faerie and a being of light, the ultimate faerie actually. She has been sent to interact with humanity, as humans are literally killing the Earth in some parts of the globe. So this version of a "hybrid faerie" is just for the fun of this round.

I think it was really late or really early when I wrote the brief. Hope this adds more light to the subject.

Brushed in some colour to give an idea of the light source and ambience and such.

Final update for tonight! Been working on this all day and i think i'm happy so far. I need to work some of those warmer yellows in to the rest of the pic, and finish the background now. Not before i have a break though :P

Excellent entries this round!! Just wanted to clarify that backgrounds are optional, but helpful with this round to depict the forest faerie in the description. I think seeing these backgrounds with the wolves makes for a more dramatic character forge round.

                        Keep working those WIPs!!

                          @jennifereasley
                          I love the aboriginal-esque tattoos!

Here's some updates of mine. I want to keep her looking efficient and aerodynamic, so I opted for short-cropped hair. The clothes will be rather pragmatic as well. Will have to improve the contrast a bit to really create a sense of dynamism. Since foliage takes forever to render, I also tested how the image works without a background. Name: sylva_colour.png

                            Default sketch

Here's my initial sketch. Do I have to show two wolves? I plan on messing around with the color. Hopefully I'll have some time to work on this one.
