I had a Halloween themed nightmare once that I can use for inspiration
Hope I'll get time for it.

so i decided that my scariest idea was 'the mask remains' from my previous post. I've cleaned it up a bit, but some tips for anatomy are appreciated; not sure how the raised arm connects to the torso in the current pose. otherwise, some fantastic entries so far, i especially like asahi's woman monster thing !!!

I like the choice you made If you're having issues with anatomy and such, I'd highly recommend to draw a quick skeleton, using only lines and basic figures. My sketches start looking a lot like simple stickmen figures and afterwards I just fill in the blanks.
Just pretty basic stuff, but I thought you might find it useful

I love the way you mixed colours on the first steps. Did you use multiply option on the brush?

        thanks both of you

        for the process :

        1st layer :sketch
2nd layer :basic color on a multiply layer
3rd layer : start painting on a normal layer

What you can do to blend a bit the colors, its' to use smudge tool too, i often rasterize all my layers to use it ( and make the file a bit lighter too ) but re-define tight after the shapes with a hard brush to avoid the blurry fuzzy render

        Hope this can help

Definitely, I've had a hard time painting digitally, I'm a self taught artist and I've usually felt more comfortable doing only outlines so your advice is like a gold mine to me. I just love all your work, excellent

            Hi there,

            Here's my basic horseman concept.
But maybe not final, i'm not sure yet.
            Still thinking.

            Cheers.

My WIP. I'm not sure about it yet, but quite innocent-looking things scare me off.
