Default CharacterFORGE 3D :: ROUND 011 :: DETECTIVE

DETECTIVE

He's an investigator, either a member of a police agency or a private person. His job is to solve crimes, chase down evil doers and sniff out offenders.

Your detective can be realistic, stylized, even cartoony but he must ooze personality.

RULES AND GUIDELINES:

Layout/Size: Keep all submissions to 1000-1200 pixels in height or width. Dont go too crazy on the number of WIP images - 2 pics say enough, we don't need 10 images with different matcaps each

Post your WIP images in this thread. Do not open a separate thread.

Submissions: Post Final Images in Finals Thread (To be posted later.)

-One Entry Per Person (the character should be new and created for this exercise)

-Beauty render, not just zbrush screen capture please

-Beauty render has to be in CLAY style only, Texturing is not required and shall not be considered for judgment .

-Follow the topic description to the best of your ability.

- Pay attention to anatomy, shape, form, and lighting. USE REFERENCE. Critical thinking is key to great character design.

Hej, so after some intense hours and looong days i made this guy.
please, tell me what u think and as much C&C as possible.

I need more practice on cloth! (first time)

Mr. Too Serious will have gloves on, so there are no fingernails .
There is also the shirt missing and the cloak-arm part.

          Also tested some lighting.

I already had the skeleton mesh on my drive.

            I'm in for this one
I'm going with my favorite detective !
What I loved about him is that he didn't smoke and got cool prop instead

Ladies and Gentleman, let me introduce the one and only:

            KOJAK (Telly Savalas):

maxloegler - nice clean start!, how do you start the model? in 3d mesh then export it or straight in zbrush?

lukx - he look like serious dude , look a bit buffed, is he>?

nice start guys .. bring in more ...

maxloegler : nice , but for some reasons the angle of the brows is making him luk sad to me .. probably little more extrerem on the right one, and bring the left one a bit down and he's gonna luk more serious i think. ... waiting for more updates

likx : very early to comment, but m sure you have a gud story for him.. eager to see more. keep it up..

lukx - a classic I was wondering if someone will pick him

maxloegler- great start. The shoulders look very narrow at the moment - you might want to look into it

wongedan: thank you. the head was made out of a sphere (i should start reusing basemeshes) > quick retopo, the props were modeled in maya and than back and forth maya <> zbrush.

sanketpro3d: thank you. i did a quick refine and, ye, i know what u mean. Also ref the corners of the mouth a little bit.

Intervain: thank you too. Omg how youldn't i see that. After some tweaking, the old old one looks badly wrong!

lukx: good start! i must admit, that i never watched him .

here are the screengrabs. i began with the gloves, but maybe i stick with just hand. don't know it yet.
i hope some more will join.

                  good to hear Intervain.

making gloves is more difficult than i thought . Specially when you haven't got a pair by your side and never done that before.

Btw do you know some good tutorials on cloth ?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but recently I was planning to do some anatomy based study and this could be nice opportunity to get some extra motivation. Usually don't post any wip. works, but I suppose it is learning experience so why not

I started with some quick sketches 1-2hr each head, to get glimpse of how it could work out, without forcing it, and then will decide which one is most interesting and easiest to work with. They are far from Ok, but it's supposed to be: Hercule Poirot (David Suchet), Kojak (Telly Savalas), Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) and John Shaft (Richard Roundtree). I'm still planning to work on Monk- Tony Shalhoub and Starsky and Hutch
Any help or hints are most welcome.
