Yie, that's Loki, I did write "trickster" in the title, but ya know, usually when i do a portrait i don't say who it is. If ppl figure it out, then i did a good job. : D

This are 2 studies, a realistic one from Virtual Pose, and a color study with a hard brush, no blending and smudging. Helps figuring out the colors by yourself.

Ah, i should mention, no color picking in any of the studies. (I used to do that. :< It's ridiculous..)

          Default Shinnok

          http://mk-rebirth.deviantart.com/blog/
^ This is something i've stumbled upon on DA. For TL;DR, it's a fan-art project to have each mk char. ever drawn by a different person. The users would claim a character and draw'im. I'm so late, that i only had weak stuff to choose from, and Shinnok was the best one left imo.

This is a line and a color draft. I'm not sure about stuff (that leg, i'll fix it) I feel like everytime i do a night scene i use the same palette. : <

Anywayz if anybody has a line to drop, i'm listenin... : D

Hey dude! Nice sb.. do some more of those gestures like on page 1 if you're not doing that already. Also try to work out some of those character thumbs you did on page 1, some of them are really nice!

              Keep on goin!

Thanks Indigo and Theo, that's the best thing i ever heard, lulz. : D
And thanks for stopping by Frank, or should i say Thufir, OR should i say Piter!! I've noticed you on Theo's FB. I have to say i am jealous on both of yer atelier studies. And all your traditional stuff overall. Let's just say my Photoshop flow is waaaaaay better than my pencil right now, because i haven't touched the pencil in a while.

I'll just upload a wip of Shinnok. I realised he wears the Romanian flag colors, lulz. I don't much like that thou'.. Feels like too many hues.. But yeah, i'll give it a color balance at the end..
I should mention that i went all Algenpfelger on this one. :O I made careful selections for every major shapes and colors, and im painting within them with the pixels locked. That gives me the possibilty to keep the edges squeaky clean, wich si really fun, BUT!1!! it's a bit harder to balance values when you work so fragmented.

hahahah yeah xD Why not! Romanian wizard! BUYA!

and ye Frank is my slave.. he does what i say and massages my feet all the time.... when i want it... WHEN I .. want.... IT! lol

                    Anyways!

Back to the card ; )

I can say one thing! Look at other artists stuff! Look at masters!! http://berkshirereview.net/wp-conten..._di_loreto.jpg

Look at those shadows! Yes.. oil do get darker in time! Don t be scared to add shadows! strong ones! and lights! Use big brushes and so on! Don t be scared to experiment! and just try for now to use big brushes! I see you got into some little details on your work as well

True when you work fragmented it is hard to handle values! that s why leave the details for a while and try and find the big shadows shapes! : ) Can show you something i did with frank : D

Was fun doing it and i learnd that it is so important to find your big shadow and values before you get into details : \

Dunno if what i said helps! But tell me if you want me to remove the pictures : ) and i will!

                      Default el shinnok

Aye, thanks Theo, i love the clar-obscur paintings and i never honestly had the ballz to go that deep with the shadows or the lights, i struggle to get rid of my inclination towards less contrast, probably i do that cuz it's 'safe' or something. Your example painting if very good, so is the link, and also Frazetta has some very drastic contrasts in his works such as http://thevelvetrocket.files.wordpre...th-dealer2.jpg wich i'm lovin' and i will probably do some studies soon.
Anyway, you know how it is, there's always a gap between the studies and the things from head. I guess it takes some time till the knowledge you gain settles down and becomes like an.. instinct.
About the details, yep, that's a lesson well learned, i only add details on the parts that i consider to have the values set. That was the case in the wip. : D

About this, i struggled with it because i wasn't liking some stuff, and i'm still not 100% happy with it, and a have in mind something i heard Andrew Jones say: If it's not a 'hell yea', then it's a 'hell no', or something like that.. Meaning, if you're not completley happy with something, work on it until you are.
I did not do that here, because it would mean to work for like 5 more years on this, but it does bug me. That saying has never left my head heh.

hey buddy good progress... um maybe composition wise i think the hand very close to us takes the eye away from the image so maybe work around that... and also maybe try to focus or out of focus the things that are not "so important" so your focal point stands out more. thats my 2 cents...keep it up man dont give up on it!

                        Hey enixtem,
                        looking good and great progress!!
I've to agree with cheo - I think it will add a lot to your image if you just flip the big hand on the front. Right now it looks like that the hand is catching something on the left side where a empty space is. If you flip it, the hand faces towards your character and set the focus point more on the char itself. Also - try to add a bit of a secondary light to his feet (some light is coming from the gap where the hand comes out).
Maybe add a bit of color variation into your image.

I did a really quick paint over (really hope you don't mind!!!!!!) - I think this will explain it much easier than my creepy english

But - thats just my humble opinion and again - hope you don't mind the PO.
