    Hello! We wanted to introduce Korpus School of Art + Gallery to CGHub.

    Founded in 2011 by artist Rebecca Kimmel, KSA+G was established to teach, promote, and showcase traditional figurative art. The Korpus School of Art is primarily dedicated to teaching traditional drawing, painting, and sculpture. We also have a minor focus on digital painting. KSA offers programs for high school students through adults. The Korpus Gallery is dedicated to showcasing the work of local, national, and international traditional and digital artists. We are housed in a beautifully converted former factory in the Factory Place Arts Complex in the heart of the Arts District in Downtown L.A. Please visit our Contact page for maps + directions.

        TONY KIEME BIO:
        Tony Kieme has taught 'Concept-Art' classes at Art Center College of Design, Otis College of Art and Design, Laguna College of Art and Design, and Gnomon School of Visual Effects. Some of his film work includes designing robots for Transformers, storyboarding for The Matrix:Reloaded and Matrix:Revolutions, conceiving creatures for Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and conceptually illustrating images for the Watchmen. He has also developed concepts for various commercials and music-videos, such as Wu-Tang's Swarm set designs. Tony Kieme has additionally curated and managed an 'urban-art' gallery, co-founded a clothing business, and studied the craft of filmmaking. He is now pursuing a Fine-Arts background in
        conceptual photography. Tony Kieme attended Art Center College of Design for a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Design.


        TONY KIEME LECTURE INFORMATION:
        Concept Artist Tony Kieme will present a slide presentation of his work and discuss his career in the film
        industry. He will also present a brief demo of his working process and discuss his work. A Q&A Session will follow his Presentation + Demo. Tony will talk one on one with attendees following the presentation.


        Light refreshments will be provided.

          JAMES GURNEY BIO:


          James Gurney is the author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling Dinotopia book series. He designed the World of Dinosaurs stamps for the U.S. Postal Service and has worked on over a dozen assignments for National Geographic magazine, painting reconstructions of Moche, Kushite, and Etruscan civilizations. He has won the Hugo, Chesley, Spectrum, and World Fantasy Awards. Solo exhibitions of his artwork have been presented at the Smithsonian Institution, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and the Norton Museum of Art.               DAVID KASSAN BIO:

              As an expression of his own calculated observation and visual consumption of surrounding environment,
              introspective glimpses of reality imbue the art of David Jon Kassan. By immersing himself into his subject matter, Kassan is able to infuse his painting with life and realism. Kassan's direction of realism follows the philosophies employed by the Ashcan School of American Realists. Kassan's influences are varied; citing Robert Henri and John Sloan as his primary influences on philosophy and subject matter. As for style and technique he cites Antonio Lopez Garcia, Mark Rothko, Franz Kline and Clyfford Still as influences as well.

              DAVID KASSAN LECTURE INFORMATION:

                    JORDU SCHELL BIO:

                    Jordu Schell has been providing concept art in the industry for over ten years, and has been in the film and television industry since 1987. His talent as a designer and sculptor is world renowned, with his credits including: “Avatar”, “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”, “300”, “Hellboy”, “Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem”, “Men in Black”, “The Mist”, “Batman Returns”, “Edward Scissorhands”, “Alien: Resurrection”, “The X-Files Movie”, “Predator II”, “Galaxy Quest”, “Evolution”, “Babylon 5-The Series” (on which he designed an Emmy Award-winning creature make-up and the first fully digital creature for a television series), and many more.

                    JORDU SCHELL LECTURE INFORMATION:

                    In this hands on Workshop, students will sculpt a half size creature bust from their own design, under Jordu Schell’s master tutelage. *Students should bring a 2D creature portrait design (drawing) which they have completed prior to the workshop. The design should not be full figure. Design should be bust size. Because this is a 1day workshop, please plan to utilize the time to sculpt rather than to sketch a design.

                            ALEX OLIVER BIO:
                            Alex Oliver was born in Fortaleza City, Ceara State, Brazil. He is a passionate sculptor and designer with extensive knowledge in Human Anatomy, and is world renowned as an artist and teacher. Over the years, Alex has dedicated himself to sculpture and fine arts in a constant search for improvement in his work. Alex’s past work includes work as a Character Modeler at Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, CA. He has additionally worked on projects for National Geographic Channel and Discovery Channel. Alex has used his extensive knowledge of traditional and digital sculpting as an invited beta tester for Pixologic’s ZBrush, the film industry’s standard digital sculpting software, for three consecutive years. Alex has additionally taught Traditional + Digital Sculpture for five years at the Melies School of Film, 3D, and Animation in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where his work has been highly influential. Currently Alex is dedicated to his own studio and teaches Workshops in Fortaleza, Brazil and abroad.

                            ALEX OLIVER WORKSHOP INFORMATION:
                            During this intensive workshop, based partly on study from the live model, Alex will discuss the importance of having a strong background in traditional art for lending greater realism and expression to traditional sculpting and character creation. Alex will first guide students in creating a drawing for their traditional character sculptures, and then guide them through the process of sculpting their designs. From Drawing to Sculpture, this Workshop will demonstrate the main points to be considered for creating greater realism in Traditional Character Sculpture. Participants will both Draw and Sculpt traditionally during the creation process.
