Here's my take. I figured a black planet would be a lot like deep water conditions, so most of my creatures remain floating and move very little, using lures and snaring tentacles to hunt in order to conserve energy.

These aren't exactly to scale, as the bottom creature is meant to be much larger. I'll add something to show his scale one the next pass.

I included some flora as well in the top left. They float or are blown around by winds in the upper atmosphere where there is just enough light, or are carnivorous.

I'm going to add some small plankton-y creatures for the big filter feeder to munch on and finish up the rest tomorrow.

@Andrew-Berends - The top heavy nature of your silhouettes really gives the impression of creatures that float in an earth-less world. Nice Job.

Won't be entering this one of course, but can't help but render 'em all the way out sometimes. Going to do the big guy as well, in enviro. Mostly for shits and giggles.

@ Andrew Berends: Excellent silhouettes! It appears to be more of an evolution thing going on than a food chain, but then again look at the human race, we all went different directions and sometimes even eat each other. Nice job dude.

Hi... My name is Ryan and this is my first time entering a Creature Planets contest, however i have been following them for a while. This one stood out to me because i used to design food chains when i was younger.
I only have three creatures going right now, and i hope to finish them soon in case my power goes out from Hurricane Irene...

I have my fourth design in progress, and my power went out a half hour ago but I used my tiny 1-and-a-half hour laptop battery life to work on it. Now it is back on for a little bit, so I am able to use the internet again and recharge my laptop...

@ Metol- Very fast work! I'm jealous. I think a few of your creatures seem a bit terrestrial for a gaseous planet though.

Yeah... I was a little undecided about the terrestriality factor of a few of these creatures. I was leaning towards the idea that some of them "swim" in the thick gas, and some of them are gas filled themselves and lumber slowly and lightly across the rough terrain deep at the bottom of the gas layers. Also, I gave all of them some bioluminescence, thinking that it would be useful on such a dark planet as it is in the deep ocean. Lol.. I hope the lights aren't against the rules, being that they are supposed to be silhouettes...
