The perspective is indeed more dramatic but for the topic I think your second composition is stronger. It creates the feeling of a broader confrontation rather than of an intense personal encounter.

          Default WIP concept thumbs

Hey All, A couple of thumbs I started a week ago before being subjected to no power and running water for three days due to a storm... They both could do with more minor characters but I'm having some trouble deciding which to do...any thoughts on a preferred one? Hopefully I'll be able to finish this one..

Will add some thoughts on other wip posts soon

          Thanks

            Default WIP Comments

            New Note 5

So you've probably all finished and decided on all this stuff but thought I'd comment anyhow...here goes

@voyd: I love your value sketching...I agree that the composition could do with some tweaking. I feel that the human character is a bit too far off screen (less the focal point). Also the characters are on the same plane, so if you play with the camera angle or difference in depth between them it might make it a bit more dynamic. So, maybe the Rhino charging towards the character, away from screen, from bottom right and the character staying pretty much where he(?) is. Hope that made sense? Also you could perhaps extend the canvas to the left to get the character more into "a third" ? Is the Rhino going to be more Steampunk?

Just all suggestions...looking forward to seeing the final render!

@bledo2010: agree with WTArnold, I think the second would be the one I would go for...

@asagiri: nice to see a comic illustration! Different. the designs look cute, I like the perspective, and the panels work together.

@Knevil: agree with voyd, more a sense of battle make this one really cool...liking the design

@WTArnold: like the dynamic poses, and your rendering of the bits of fire damaged stuff is cool! I think as long as your depth of field is kept with the foreground post she'll stay the focal point. You could even add a few more foreground elements at left or up top to really frame her in the composition? looking forward to seeing it completed!!

Ok onwards hopefully I can finish something this weekend.
            Happy rendering everyone.

              Default My newer version

I've scrapped my last idea, cause I couldn't find a good direction to take it. Here's mine about 3/4 of the way done. I plan on changing the repeated chopper a bit, just there for reference.

                  Default A crit

voyd: thanks for the comment. I like your WIP quite a bit. Good dynamic pose for your character. Drill arms are the sickest weapon ever. My only comment is that yours looks a little flat and 2-D. It's a bit late to change your composition, so maybe thrown in more overlapping elements to separate the space. Also in your portfolio I noticed you seem to "over color" your pictures. Its very hard to get the right combination of saturation and value with a color layer. I would recommend using a very limited color pallet. Maybe pick 3 or 5 different colors with an overall tone and keep it simple. It will make for a more gritty painting. I hope this helps. GL!

I just refine it with ink pen and touch up with photoshop.

the dialogue is not finale, do let me know if you have any suggestion.

And also it should be read from Right To Left.
