New Worlds #25:: Second Battle of the Coral Sea

This is a redesign round, but with a twist. We will be redesigning a historical event in an actual place. The first great naval engagement between the United States and Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor happened in a place known as the Coral Sea (South Pacific).

Our redesign will presume that a second battle of the Coral Sea happened in the year 2104. The parties to the battle are up to you. The type of warcraft involved in the battle are up to you. The technology level of the battle is up to you. The battle is happening in the Coral Sea.

As always, no tracing or paintovers. The deadline for this is July 20, 2011 at Midnight PST.

@ROCKNROLLA: I like where you're going with your piece compositionally. If there's one thing I have a problem with, it's the design of the aircraft. Those sorts of external rocket pods aren't really seen on fixed-wing aircraft anymore, and it makes the image look retro rather than futuristic.You might want to try playing with internal bomb bays, like this: http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircr...ning-ii_29.jpg

Anyway, good luck and I can't wait to see the finished product!

I found it going on in several places e.g. over in CharacterForge. It is resolving itself. It appears to be a temporary hang in image loading that resumes loading after a while. I have reported it for admin's attention.
