G'day peeps. Some very awesome stuff posted around here for this contest already and i am hoping it is not too late for me to join in as well.

The fairy tale i have chosen is from the Brothers Grimm and it is called "How six men got on in the world".

AS i was reading through the massive book of tales i came across this one and, being a huge fan of the manga One Piece, i just cod not pass it up.

In my story they will also be a mix of cyborgs, humans, aliens all brought together by one savvy and knowledgeable military leader who just got fed up with governments just having their way with whatever the heck they want.

So he puts a group of 'pirates' together and after being designated 'Illegal Beings' in the Galactic Union they just do what they can to ruffle some feathers all the while displaying some amazing abilities.

Started on the 'muscle' guy on the group not knowing anything other than the idea that i possibly wanted him to be a cyborg or robot.

I started by just dumping whatever i had on paper and even having to have a little mental break (hence the robot secretary bird) and then coming back to it later.

When i did, while thinking about all the possible large beings or animals or even archetypal character it could be, one of the previous sketches just had this Blue whale thing going for it. SO that is what my later sketches show. More on him soon.

The 3rd member of the group is described as a man that wears a hat on his ear because if he wears it properly he creates a snowstorm or blizzard or something of the like.

Knowing that i had to grapple with the 'hat over one ear' bit i pretty quickly (as in after one sketch lol) stopped doing full shots and went straight to the head. Something told me that if i figured out the head the rest would just fall in place.

One of the sketches i really liked, i stuffed a beanie on him (after having a look at my ace on the little mirror that was on my table at the time and suddenly i had me a young wizard with a special hat that likes snowboarding.

For the character that 'blows strong winds out of his nostrils" i took a similar approach to the previous character. I did some body shots and some head shots.

Eventually i like the idea of combining a few animal characteristics, suggested by one of the sketches, into one. So we have an alien that has a pouch under his neck and chest and a sac on his back that work together to create strong winds out his sizable nostrils. When they inflate, air is dragged in through his hollow horns. He has a very strong tail that has horns on it that he uses to ground himself so that he is not pushed back.

The rest coming soon and then onto making them look good by designing the details.

Good stuff! I really like your concepts. I look forward to seeing how you put all these character concepts together.
