Stimpy,great work man,if the hand a bit longer i think is better,imho!

ROCKNROLLA, nice rendering on his head.

yoyo1199, wow,great sketch so far!!!!

eleven, great sketch, i think the transition from the daragon to the tail of the snake is too quick, it would be nice if you make the body of the dragon a bit more and just expand your canvas a bit bigger.

RosanneHayes,wow thats a nice one!

SkiDesignS,your design really interesting.

Didzis,like always,great work man!

here is my update

@Irawan: Great take on the cyclops, really like the different approach on the design

As for me, Yes I'm suddenlly seen posting in CPA again !!! *yay*
Got some fresh... knowledge from my (ongoing) internship (without any expert around though...), and have some upcoming free days, so thought I might have a chance on finishing a CPA once again

So during my long lunch break I went with Kerberos!!! Three headed guard hound of Hades the gates of the underworld (or as some might know him: "Cerberus" )

        Name: kerberos_001.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 322.2 KB

Nobody said he also had 3 necks

Anyhow... I usually end up with some weird perspective and I guess my Kerberos is no exception as he towrs himself above you in the gorge, remaining ever vigilant

Not sure towards the body design yet, don't think I'll make it really doglike, like the heads are

Edit: forgot to mention: Topic is awesome

Default Hercules VS Ladon and the golden apples

well I thought I'd have a stab at this and here's my interpretation of the Greek myth of Hercules attempting to acquire the golden apples that are guarded by the Snake Like Dragon Ladon, this is my first doodle and it was done entirely in photoshop using a Wacom Bamboo tablet, I hope to make it full colour in time, all readers of this thread please let me know what you think

              First post on cghub:
I make an interpretation of medusa - just her head to be correct - as a „femme fatale“ (if you english speaking guys know what i mean) in a traditional oil painting. I don’t know if it’s still in the spirit of „creature planets“ but I wanted to do a traditional painting of medusa for a while...
Concept scetch and painting (hope i find time to finish it):

                    Another "long" lunch break today

@Yoyo1199: Looking good so far. As for lighting I think I miss some relfected light hitting your creature from the left. Should also help define the shape a bit more.
Couldn't help but notice how my eye kept dropping off the canvas following your creatures line from head to tail. I think it's better to keep the tail inside your canvas, perhaps have it spiral down into the distance to create some depth.
see if it helps to put down a line that you want your creature's body to follow. You got very nice curves going on. If you don't mind I made a quick paintover to show what I see
(by all means, if anyone sees something I'm better of not doing, please do say so :P)

While the body and part of the tail followed a nice circulair shape, the head and end of the tail seemed off
Created bit of room at the tail by making the back paw/claw smaller
Now it does show that the 2 circles don't transist smoothly into each other at the thigh, so perhaps that might be nice to smooth out
(Do have to note, I'm no real expert on these things

lol ok, didn't plan on typing that much, but I hope it's helpfull.
                    Anyhow...

@megadarren: Welcome, great to see your giving this a shot.
Sketch looks very interesting, though it would be nice if we could see a bit more of the creature

@Sigurd: Ah, how I envy those who paint in traditional ways as I'm too far gone in digital
Anyway, looking great so far. Though at first it took me a while to feel like it was a severed head (instead of floating)
But very interested to see how it will turn out. And also a welcome

@Eleven: Shaping up more and more I see.
I noticed how your values are almost the same almost through out your entire piece.
The beast's head could be made lighter, since that should probably be the viewers main focus point
the background behind your beast can be alot darker, or atleast darker than your creature. Especially noticable between the wings where the body is about the same as the ground, only seperated by a line
Also, the big empty space at the bottom could maybe be used. perhaps move the knight standing in the center can be moved there.
Just a thought you might want to experiment a bit with.

@Didzis: Ah, got to love the intimidating pose in the door. Works well with the Minotaur. Curious to see how this turns out.

                    @AIMonkey... oh that's me, well
Time for my Lunch time progress.

Took the less ... daring perspective. (Didn't feel like I could do that underneath view any good)

Refined the head and body. Changed Kerberos its position from ontop of a gorge to well... the ground. Lowered him down basically.
                    Tried out some claw designs
Also made a version where he is chained

Feel free to show your criticism on this

                        Default Scylla sketches

If there's a Charybdis, why not a Scylla? Just some sketches for now, but I'm thinking crab and hagfish for right now, might throw on those wolf heads depending on the composition.

A little bit of inspiration -- something Todd Lockwood did years ago, and one of my favorite pieces to this day:
