Hey Guys,

Nice challenge, love it, this challenge give me so much ideias and decided to join, my ideia is to produce a Oni, I skeetched some face's drawings in this morning and I would like to share it, I dig some references from Noh's theater but I my ideia is create a Oni more realistic mixing the stuffs..

Sure, this one is very close to a "character" due to its very human appearance, so it is a fine line.

Try to really emphasize the in-human terror filling eyes. If anything sculpting a beautiful yet horribly evil "human" ,if done well could be very monstrous. How will you go about doing this? The first reference image I posted is of a yuki-onna. The creepy woman with the child.

Hey Guys, I just made one very quick sketch (7'') from the body, the ideia is to use a anatomy from sumotori(sumo fighters) mixing with a strong anatomy. I dosen't finished too much the ideia becouse I would like to make it very flexible for play more in 3d model..

Have not had much time this weekend, but made a few updates so thought I would post..

Hey farouce, good start.
a couple suggestions though.

- seperate the horns from the head. it will look better as a seperate subtool in zbrush and be easier to sculpt.

- widen the feet across the toe area, hes a big guy and will have big feet.

- increase the bulk or mass of the body, longer limbs and broader shoulders. This will give the impression that hes larger than man-sized and brutally powerful.

I tried to change a bit the body according to what kryssmen said although I'm not yet happy with the form of the body. But I didnt want to go to the typical dragon. I wanted to play a bit more with the caracteristics of dragons and also give him a water looking and ferocious ofc ^^

thought I would add some slaves and a gateway to hell behind the Oni... Will include some Japanese lore and design in the pillars.

I also separated the horns, and made the feet larger, wider.. hoping that the difference in size between the demonic ogre and the human slaves show his mass and power..

The oni's most famous variation - with horns like an ox and wearing a tiger-skin fundoshi,
may be related to the kimon, the demon gate through which the world's misfortunes are said to come.
The gate is located in the northeast, or ushi-tora direction - Ushi and tora being the signs
of the ox and the tiger.


Otherwise the oni's appearance is probably derived from Chinese demons, imported in depictions of the
Buddhist underworld. Emma-Daiō, the king of Jigoku (Hell) is sometimes thought to have two
assistants, the aka-oni (red ogre) and the ao-oni (blue or green ogre).

While oni can certainly be found torturing sinners in Hell, they also menace humans in this world,
lurking in the mountains and populating distant countries, and riding in the clouds as the spirits of wind
and thunder. While in folktales these ogres are usually malicious, man-eating creatures to be feared

but my idea is show her evil side like another personality, through some mirror reflection or water, something like that...
when I' finished the anatomy, I'll start blocking her clothes
