Default How could I improve this sketch? WIP

    HI there!

I started improvising this little fan art during a live stream. And I sorta liked the result, so I decided to make it a finished work.

The problem is that I am kinda stuck right now. I know how to improve some things (cleaning the character and repainting the building crane) But that won't be enough.

I know the background has problems too, but I'm not able to identify them. Could you give a helping hand, please?

i would like to say make the character bigger and reduce the effect,
and just kick away the building on the left side.
i hope that help you a bit.

      Yes! definitely.
I will add those ideas to a "corrections sheet" and give it a try tonight on livestream.

I think you should crop you canvas, is too wide because the "sides" of the background don't add to the image.
Also the building between the character's legs are disturbing with the silhouette for me i think you should make more foggy/lighter background to contrast with both lightning and character, after all this is all about the Char and lightnight right?

Hope this helps, here's a super fast paintover showing everything i explained above:

      Hope it helps!

I belive you are right. This call for a vertical composition, not an horizontal one. In top of that I think I should try to redraw it, looking at the character from a lower angle to emphatize the "power" show of and add a little bit of "Vertigo" to the scene.

        Thnk you very much.

Heres my thoughts... unify your color pallet by adusting the color balance... create obvious points of interest with contrast... and pay close attention to light sources

yea i like the pinky version ionic, although the lightning doesnt have to be same colour, it could be light blue - still cutting theough the pink
