    Default Low-poly model, feedback wanted

I'm pretty new to 3D modeling, so I could use some pointers on what to improve. I used a provided model and have been working off that. Something about the shading on the chest (best seen in the 3/4 view) bothers me, but I'm not sure if that's a problem with geometry or Max's rendering. Any help is appreciated.

On someone's suggestion, I fixed a 6-sided n-gon on the side of the breast (see girl4.png) but the shading still looks odd.

If it helps, here's the .obj file for reference: http://www.mediafire.com/?cgkat6khg6a6266

      youarebritish,

I'm relatively new to modeling also, so my advice might not be the most technical or the best way of solving your problem. I looked at you mesh briefly and noticed a couple of things, first, the mesh is really low poly, even by most game standards, i tried adding mesh smooth and turbo smooth modifiers to see if adding some mesh density would help, which it did to a degree. I also noticed that your mesh is a tad sloppy, I would try tweaking your vertices some and see if you get better results. Also i noticed a nice mix of quads and tris in there, there's some debate over how much that really matters, but typically the rule of thumb is to try to stick to all quads if you can get away with it. I've found i get much better results with less tweaking when i use all quads, plus it looks prettier, especially if you tessellate tris you'll get some funky looking edge patterns which is really noticable when surrounded by the tessellated quads. Anyway, sorry i couldnt be more help, i hope you get the results your looking for, good luck.
