I am about ready to reexamine my ref (MaximVerehin's image) and start building some teeth and lips. I guess I should give him some little knuckles or something at the end of those arms. I also need to figure out what I am going to do about the little nose and iris/pupil detail on the eyeballs.
I could see a few changes were necessary. Obviously, this next one needed some minor adjustment. I just thought you guys who know what you are doing might get a big kick out of it. I fixed it by doubling rotation on all three axes in my linear transform of the cells (if that makes any sense) but I can't see the snapshot I thought I made of the fix. I'll be back. Here it is. I guess some further tweaks to my linear transform may be in order here but this is basically how the hair comes out. I figured out what I will try if I can't figure out how to do the mouth and eyes with UV mapping. The pikachu from hell with a hangover. From what I've learned in the last few days I can finish this for sure Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday over coffee. I won't flake on you this time Kryssmen. Just two new textures- shiny mucous membrane and shiny white (both easy) plus a little bit of modeling if I don't figure out UV mapping. (Well a little bit of modeling anyway, for the teeth).

I'm just down to tweaking textures and perhaps tinkering around with the teeth and lip/gum area. I'll probably spend more time deciding what kind of lighting and rendering I like best. I obviously need at least a second light to keep the shadow side from flattening out.

This particular challenge is for 3D pieces. There is a 2D Creature planet as well, but the Pokemon Challenge in 2D happened a couple of weeks ago. They are currently drawing for a challenge called "Sand Swimmer" in 2D Creature Planets. http://cghub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4883
