Default joypad - Grugru (the little warrior)

    Hello everybody.

I'm new here in this forum and this is therefore my first post.

I'm not yet very versed in sculpting, but very fascinated of your WIP

As for the warrior I decided myself for a goblin. His power lies not in his physical force, but in his speed and his unbroken will to become a real warrior.

And now to my first WIP, my concept sketch.

For tips and tricks and criticism I'm always thankful.

Greetz and good luck to everybody!

              Default Update 29.12.10

@germanager thanks. Your work is very interesting!

I'm still sculpting my character, started with the shield. The axe still lacks. I try to work faster, it's still a lot to do, as texturing and posing etc. I hope to be ready before the deadline.

I hope you all had a merry christmas and I wish you a happy new year.

                Default Mudbox 2011 crashes

During my work with mudbox 2011 I had a lot of crashes. Since I started posing, it crashes constantly.
I think I have found the reason: it seems to be incompatible with the Bamboo Touch and Pen tablet. (see picture) Is this problem already known, and does anyone know what to do in this case?

I'm very grateful for every help.

                I Work with OS X Version 10.6.5 / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

                  Default Question?

ok, it's probably not about the tablet. It doesen't work either with the mouse.

Is it possible that there is a polygon limitation, although I do the rig at level 0 (the highest level is 8, and the mudbox file has 7.8 GB)? If there is a limitation, how big is it, what has to be considered?

I tried to test it, I deleted all higher levels than level 1, but the problem now is that the fixation between the joint and the mesh is lost.
Can that be reconstructed, and if yes, how?

Thanks very much for every help.

                    Default Posing

Quick way I found to pose is to export lo-rez. Weight and pose in whatever software you use, re-import posed .obj into Mudbox as a layer. Flatten the layer stack and go up in subdivisions.

Make sure you have your UVs set up before exporting and re-importing. Import option I found works well based on UV position.

Keep rocking! This is turning out well!

Default the workflow is really unclear to me!

                      thanks for your answer.
I may try to do the pose in another program, but time is running out

The workflow between sculpting and posing is unclear to me. I thought that I can sculp up to the higher sublevels and then do the posing and after that for examle add wrinkles on trousers, and finally extract the maps before rendering in another program, e.g. cinema.

                        Default Update 27.01.2011

                        Hi,
                        I’m very happy.

We have found the problem, it was the graphic board. I don’t know if my old graphic board (NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT) is broken but with my new one (ATI Radeon HD 4870) it works fantastic.

Here is my pose (WIP), I hope you like it, and I would like to here your comments.

                          Hello joypad.

The model looks cool but the pose lacks a strong silhouette, because we're seeing him from the front, at first I could not tell that w was wearing a shield and a weapon.
Something as simples as just turning the view torwards the side, like a 3/4 view, can help a lot to better appreciate him.

And yeah, Mudbox uses the graphics card a lot, especially RAM, if the newer card has more memory, it can only help

                          Keep it up!

                            Default Congratulation to all!

                            @ lbelerique
Thanks a lot for your suggestion for my pose.

But due to my own problems and the problems with the grafic card I could not manage to get finished.
The charcter is complete but I had no time for a beauty render.
I will post some pictures later.

I would like to thank you all for your inputs and for the insights in your workflow and your projects. I've learned a lot from that.

Congratulation to all who handed in their warriors, there are very nice works among them!

Yeah, I understand. Although my computer is no slouch, it's getting old (I have it since 2008) and its age is showing up because my scene was terribly slow, with all detail and textures... it moved like 5 seconds per frame
