Default Collaborative Activities

Example:
(For all of theses ultimately communication is key and any person wanting to contribute would have to contact me so that I can confirm that what you're wanting to contribute hasn't already been assigned.)

Activity #1:
1 person models the character and 1 person models the costume and accessories for that character.

Activity #2:
1 Person models the character, costume and accessories. 1 Person UV maps the character. 1 Person paints the textures.

Activity #3:
1 Person models and UVs a character and multiple people paint the textures in a polled competition.

Activity #4:
1 Person picks an area of interest that they want to model and or UV/Texture.

Any, all, something different or none of these could be implemented. It will depend on what users want to contribute for each project.

Default "God of Sands"

Okay guys and gals this is the opening up of "Collaborative Activities" for 3D Jam. The projects will be about turning CGHub artists 2D works into 3D works. I will kick this off shortly and be the main organizer and worker for these until someone volunteers to takeover, but ultimately the idea is that 2D and/or 3D artists will chip in and model/ paint/ composite various parts of the projects until it gets to final finished quality 3D. We won't be getting promotion on the front page for this, so you'll have to keep your eyes glued to the thread for updates. Also any questions that you have that you would like to direct to myself or the 2D artist (Bianca) can be posted here and we will do our best to get those answered for you.

The first artist work that we'll be 3D-izing is "God of Sands" by Bianca Dragichi / biascurtu /

__________________________________________________ ________
Ok Bianca, the first subject will be your "GOD OF SANDS" image which is very interesting in terms of the contrast of the small size of the God head and his ginormous deity-like body as well as the dynamic sandstorm environment you designed around the group. My first three questions will be generally on how you pick your subject matters in part and then two about "GOD OF SANDS" specifically.

1.) In a couple of images you made I've noticed that you frequently integrate a lot of large bulbous shapes into a the main subject which puts those shapes front and center in the image. It's quite a unique and striking aesthetic. I was wondering where your inspiration for that may have come from? Also I noticed the re-occurrence of brass horns and bells and was wondering about where your inspiration for those things may have come from?

/ About "God of Sands" /

2.) Since we the viewers cannot see the chariot, but we the modelers would be building it I was wondering if you might be able to describe what the whole chariot of the "God of Sands" might look like?

3.) Did you envision the chariot drivers to be human (worshipers maybe?), inhuman (undead?) or supernatural (Specters/Ghosts?)

        Default inspiration

"I was wondering where your inspiration for that may have come from?"

I am a big fan if huge turbans and I gathered some references from the internet - some of them I' ll post here. So I started to work on this concept with the idea in mind to create something like a god, king of desert. About the composition - I wanted to try something different like a Japanese composition where the elements are pop-ing up from mist, dust or other atmospherics.

I usually like to add some elements that give some originality to the picture so I invented the little creatures. They are running the carriage of the king and they have some sort of installation on them made out of pieces of huge trumpets so when the wind goes trough the trumpets it makes this super loud sounds in order to frighten anyone around.

So cool! I never knew people could wear turbins so large. Thanks so much for the additional reference info. and images. I'd still like to know a little more about the back of the chariot.

          Hi again,
I will post a sketch of the chariot soon, it is like a big simple shape and has huge wheels. About the chariot drivers - I haven't thought about them being supernatural Specters/Ghosts, but now that you said it - it sounds good.
          cheers

I spent a hour in a hotel in Borneo roughing out the head and turban in Dynamesh in Zbrush to get this ball rolling.... looking to see if I have the scales about right.... the face will be worked out of symmetry and will have to be retypo'ed to get the number of poly's down.....
