Default Nude People / Faces Sketchbook

    *Latest Update*

oh and here is an early eye SSS test i did 6 months ago.

I have just found this place and i must say i like it.

It's a lot... calmer than other places. For my selfish needs that is exactly what i need.
I have been modeling for a few years and recently decided to learn anatomy. (I should have started with anatomy first)

To show where im at with my anatomy, here are a few recent images of a few of my studies.

The last image is something that i would love to flesh out and take it beyond its basic low poly form. But i know right now isnt the time.

A few days ago i received my first anatomy book. "Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist". Amazing book.

Been taking as much in as possible and this morning i decided to put it to use and do a quick sketch.

I am far from happy with it. I spent an hour on it which i think is a little long, but i predict it would normally have been longer, except this time i knew what i was looking for and not trying to emulate the reference pixel by pixel.

Im not looking for praise (which is a good thing since most of you are far beyond my skill level and can really recognize good work), im looking for a place that critiques. I know some of you must be well equipped with anatomy knowledge and will find it easy to point out what is right or wrong with my studies.

Any time you spare a useful tip or point out a flaw that i've missed i will greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for you time. I will post more as soon as possible.

Wow after a year, hardly any threads in this forum and no reply. Guess its bad .

Anyway, im thinking of entering the new 3d jam and after enquiring about can we use something we are already working on. I was told no. hehe

Its fair but also a shame since i was working on a model of what i thought was probably the best entry for something like this.

Here is an old pic of it.

and a more recent one. I will still work on it just not right now.

And here is some other stuff i might as well dump in here.

All of the studies look great. Especially the mouths. Did you ever finish the crouched over figure?

Thanks, nahh. In terms of reference i dont have alot on it and i want to keep practicing my anatomy skills. Once i get to a level where i can fully predict how the surface will react underneath the skin i will give it a go, but i need to practice on more models before i get to that level.

BTW here is the current state of my athena/beauty project. Of course im not happy with it.... im looking at it with disgust simply because there are area that are pretty bad/sloppy/careless....

Now onto the proper beauty 3d Jam.

Sorry for the lack of updates, thanks for all the comments.

With the show its hard to fit in the time. Im meant to be editing another episode now.

Here is something ive been working, ive always wanted to model a little person.

Been working on it for a few hours. I've recorded the entire process upto this point and will continue to.

Right now, its way too defined (but detailed can be washed away). im really not happy with it at this point but i have to post some time.

So many things wrong with it, im soo close to not posting this.

                      Another update.

                      Started the face.

So much to work on. Hands, Shoulders, Feets arghhh the list goes on. But its fun, and its all been recorded. I will stop recording at some point when i think there is enough there so i can then spend time on detailing and tiny tweaks.

Next update.... urghhhhhh, dunno might be something else i think. Maybe a 'slight' male body. Could be boring so i might pose him.

                          Thanks mate.

Another update. Not as good im afraid, but ive been doing an update a night so i will spend more time on it tomorrow or the next day.

Next i think will be the face and then trying out a pose. Once i see how it looks i will refine and pretty much correct a lot of the crappy areas.

Cool work! I notice there's a real roughness to the surface of your models as you're working on them... Are you using a brush with an alpha applied as you sculpt?

                            Keep it up!

                              Thanks,

Well if the clay tubes is considered an alpha. You know its only a smoothed bitmap of a square. The 'roughness' you mention is really just my attempt at making is feel more... tangible. It's not really realism, i know i haven't reached that level. But looking at a lot of naked people under extreme directional lights, the surface has many more bumps than most people realise. Kinda like cellulite.

They are all superficial but its the result of building a model up in layers and less of the smooth brush (i still use it a lot but not like how i used to).

Anyway, here is something ive been working on for a few nights.

This has a $hitload of errors and mistakes (wtf is going on with the neck ). A lot of portions to be totally reworked but its been a while since i last updated you guys.

By the way, this is all building up to an acutal scene that i have planned. So the next update is one more male head. Then I develop them all. 3 Bodies. Some work on the scene and start to block things out.

Iv'e been working on this for 5 nights and i want to move on. I will come back to it. Ive got videos of it that i have to cut and narrate the whole process was recorded.

IMAGE REMOVED - I couldnt stand it.

To be honest, the more i look at the the more i hate it
There are still a lot of errors hopefully they will be addressed when i come back to him.

I want to get working on the other stuff in this thread.

                                So for now, "Good Evening".
