Been lazy with updating. Here's a little oil doodle I started recently...

gloominati: Thanks, man!
amemoryinblue: Thanks for the kind words! Fallenangel: Thanks! I'm going to try. Here's a piece I've been dabbling at, on and off. If you know me from other sites, you've probably seen this, but I figured I'd add it here.

So, I'm planning on doing a series of images based on HP Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness." I have about 6 scenes from the book I want to do illustrations of. This is my first series of thumbnails. Real rough, with no ref yet. I'll get that once I have settled on a basic gameplan. The scenario is when the expedition team is first arriving at Antarctica (They travel in two ships).
Any and all commets and critiques are welcome. I realized my early attempts were way too high contrast, which is why I've toned it down a bit on the later ones. I'm trying to find the right shapes and value scheme to suggest the foreboding feeling I want. I have't figured out if I prefer the vertical or horizontal format, yet, either. The vertical helps accentuate the mountains, but the horizontal gives more room for that "epic environment" vibe. I dunno...
