In my oppinion bring the Creature planet to 3d live was a great decision, so that we could chase randomly the planets at creature planets 2D and see what will come up in 3D. Dont know just an idea. Me I just love a creature challenge ^^ Peace

edit: now that i saw the new worlds post, i think i posted on the wrong place didnt I? damn ;S

I basically lack the requisite skills at the moment. I am interested, but I have a learning curve ahead of me. I am a little pigheaded and biased toward open source, but hated the Blender interface. I just discovered "Art of Illusion" though, and downloaded the manual yesterday. Once I create my virtual java machine, install Art of Illusion, and do some tutorials I might be in a better position to give this a try.

I would be very interested in a semi-abstract idea like plankton or diatoms.

I think the idea about linking it with the 2d activity was not bad. It is sort of like the production environment where 3D people are trying to flesh out concepting done by the 2D team isn't it?

Lol! Meg The Zombie Werewolf Witch got an underwhelming response, but if it had been just Meg the zombie it might have been easier for people to get into.

I'd probably try it. Each of these I try, I learn more and more. In the last few days I learned how to subdivide and deform my meshes correctly. Provided I pull off the hair in that pikachu I am doing I shouldn't have any trouble making a zombie creature (as long as I focus well enough to give it a proper amount of time).

Default A few new Challenge ideas!!

i want to do a " classic dungeons and dragons monsters challenge"

      heres some examples:

      1. Gelatinous Cube (fun to models the guy disolving inside the cube)
      2. Beholder
      3. Rust Monster
      4. Mind Flayer
      5. Displacer Beast
      6. Stirge
      7. Mimics (treasure chests that grow arms or viscious teeth)
      8. Hook Horror
      9. Gnoll/ bugbear
      10. Giants (fire, frost, storm, hill)
      11. Owlbear
      12. Goblin/ hobgoblin
      13. Umber Hulk
      14. Ogre
      15. Quasit

I can supply a pdf of the original monster manual for reference or they can google them.

The other Theme would be either Demonic or Zombie Monsters.

A future Challenge would be other mystical creatures from different cultures myth's. India, China, japan, etc.

Let me know what you guys think!

Your ideas are cool. Here is a retro one. Tumithak of the Corridors was a novella from those golden days of Conan and H.P. Lovecraft http://www.mnriv.com/tumithak.html and the bad guys in there were ten legged spidery creatures from Venus with human heads (called Shelks).

        Cool Z3R0 experience:Huge IM4G1N4T10N!...

Hello everyone! They call me SH4D3M4CH1N3, (That's "ShadeMachine" with all the Vowels substituted with their numerical "look-alikes") and I'm a brand newbie here on CGHUB. I have zero knowledge with any of the software you guys are using to such STUNNING effect here and I realize I've got a VERY long way to go before I can expect to be even half as good as most of what I've been seeing here so far!

        OUTSTANDING WORK ALL AROUND FOLKS!

Now, what I lack in computerized artistic talent (...as I'm not much of a slouch drawing free hand. My Avatar Picture I drew myself by hand, scanned and superimposed on a copied background but that is one of the ONLY examples of computer art I've ever accomplished and that one is SEVERAL years old) I more than make up for in literal imaginative power! I can write very descriptively and actually have some very specific "Creature Feature" material I am considering sharing with you guys here @ CGHUB...

...Assuming this kind of thing is what you might be looking for as far as "Challenges" here in the "3D Creature Challenges & Activities", please let me know if I'm on the right track or if I'm actually wasting your time here, fellas. Just browsing through, so far I have seen some of the most AWESOME creature artwork I have ever observed online and am wondering if there are any artists who think they might have what it takes to illustrate my visually descriptive writing style?

So what's up folks? Any TAKERS?

        ~;>
