19/8: Probably not the Best time to start my sketchbook, I'm needing to get back into sketching certain stuff.
And... It's harder when fairly sleepy lol, I'll show what I mean later in this post
This is my first time with an online Sketchbook. Since I finally purchased a Drawing Tablet I feel like I can actualy support a digital sketchbook
      ---
ok... Thought I had some more recent things to start with lol, anyway, I'll add try to keep stuff coming. (School's nearing to start again too, Game Art that is)

Ok... let's start out Bad lol, Was half asleep during this, and have to get back into anatomy and practice Proportion again
First some failed big cats... no idea what was happening with all the different scales
Went just with some fast lines at first, later on some fast... Muscles, but those were of a small feline house cat or something, so didn't really apply to well to my... big cat

Went to PoseManiacs, got distracted by seeing the word "hands", So sketches some hands, and then some mutant. But quickly stopped there, Still half sleeping

Ok... It goes from right to left, Sleeping, Waking up and then Aware

I became aware about the thoughts of proportion that haunted my mind, and quickly had to exterminate those with the proper ones!

(The Mask is not meant to be accurate, eye height etc.)

      some CPA entries
CPA#15, Viscinian Scavenger. First big work (non sketch, random lines) on my Intuos 4 (Large)

Some Random Sketches on a sheet.
Sometimes it's nice to just be laid back and see what your arm does...

Copyright for the photo belongs to National Geographic
Original is in color, but forgot I had my PS file on Black and White
I usually work in gray scales anyway...

Haven't done allot of studies like this, will probably do more, was fun to do (Especially digital)

Nice studies, I think I'll join you on the big kittiy studies soon You say you usually work in grayscale, any reason for that? I just think it's very important to study colors as well, specially for these photo studies.
              Looking forward to more.

                @jskotte: Thanks!

I usually work with grayscale and add color afterwards,
I think it's easy to put in color after you get the rendering, values, lighting and everything, right
Edit: Now I remember, with a bit of help, A pyramid/triangle, at the base, Composition, after that Linework then tones and at the top the colors. the lower ones support those on top. If the foundation is not correct it will affect everything above

I think I also just liked working with grays because it overlapped my traditional and digital experience the most. During school most of the work used to be grays too.
                Kind of stuck with that
None the less, colors are still powerfull. I guess I just like working with blacks, whites and everything in between

Update: got me some Battlecat sketch made for the ongoing CPA

And after reading the ^^ post about color, I thought I try it out on my sphere, Simple, but does contain the reflective light

                  Woo, got a scanner working
Kind of hard to scan a book, some edges are cut off
Scanned in gray... maybe True Color would have been more fun

Anyway, youngest sketches are like 2 months old... New Tablet took my attention away from pencil work. No references on this page. I usually take some time to see what I'm able to do without any references

A skull sheet I made a bit longer back. Most are just fiction, some are with photo references

Then finally a collection of a visit to a museum with some friends. With the goal of practicing hatching with pencil

Should get sketching with pencil some more

Edit: Post updated with my CPA#20 sketch

11/9: Been a while since I posted... well anything here. Wanted to, but school limits me in different ways on this...

Managed to get at least Something out for this post. Some fictional samurai
Just some practice. Got to work on a face with this.
No reference and using minimal values to create

Face felt bit off so had a second "quick fix" adding a simple mask
Need to practice my mouths too.
Facial elements have never been my strongest point, but that's where practice comes in eh!
