Very cool, I will have to give it a try, although I highly doubt I'll have time to finish it. But I'll try!
Quick question: are we allowed to use existing base meshes and repurpose / reuse existing props? Four weeks seems pretty damn short to build everything from scratch.

I'm interested to know this too, I've sketched out a few ideas, but most are leaning fantasy/steampunk.

linkov and Aumni: it doesn't have to be sci-fi per se, but given that the story is about an interstellar society, high fantasy and magical characters seem out of place. Steampunk seams fine to me though.

fogmann: if you have VERY basic base meshes that you wish to start with, that would be ok, since this is not a straight up modeling contest. Please keep within the spirit of fair competition.

I know 4 weeks seems short, but we want to try and keep the contests rolling so that artists who don't have time to join the current one don't have to wait too long to jump into the next one.

SavageBliss: the way the 2d contests work is to post in the main thread. for now, let's do that and if there is enough interests in creating individual threads we can switch over to that.

Count me in, even though this is my first time part-taking in a challenge of this caliber it's something I can't afford to miss out on.

can we post our progress on another forum (in addition to this one)?

                  Default Question

So when you say 3/4 must be visible, that means 1/4 can be covered with mask or armor?

milansatan: what i meant to say was that 3/4 of your character must be in view. he/she can be completely covered in armor as long as you are showing most of the character in your render. No portrait shots. I will update the brief. Thanks for bringing that up.
