Safehouse! I love it! Can't wait see this exceptional and rare opportunity-flower blossom into a sweet and magical adventure! It's like steroids for your art muscles--AND without the swelling and other negative side effects...mostly.

If you're sitting on the fence about doing this, just be sure to fall off head first on the side with the atelier in it. You'll be glad you did.

A few people have asked me some questions that I think many people have. So here's a little FAQ section.

    • Is there a deadline for acceptance? No. We accept people year round and enrollment is on-going. The only limitation is the number of spots available. Since we are just starting we have a lot of slots open.
    • Is there an age limit? No. It doesn't matter if you're 42 or 16. As long as you want to learn in this type of program, that's all it takes.
    • Are you accredited? No. We are not accredited. Because of this we do not offer degrees nor can we assist students with financial aid.
    • What level do you need to be at to be considered for acceptance? A nice looking portfolio is always a good thing. However, we accept anyone at any level provided they show aptitude and the determination to better themselves artistically.
    • How do I apply? Just send your portfolio or link to your website to us. Also include a short letter of who you are, what type of training you have, and why you would like to study with us.

Hope that makes it a little clearer.

    Thanks,

    Dobsky

The Atelier and the men who teach in it have literally changed lives. They changed mine, and it sounds cheesy, I know, but consider for a moment the kind of place it is. A room full of artists who will not let anything get in the way of their desire to learn, teachers who give you individual lessons suited for your current technical ability and also tailored to your specific way of understanding ( yes they get in your head and know how you think and how you learn!). Strangers become family, old students keep in touch and together we make a pretty big network.

Anyone who wishes to do art for a living and is serious about it should not hesitate, and do like so many of us have already done, pack up your things and go! make it happen someway , struggle, starve, whore yourself out, whatever you have to do, do it... you'll be glad you did.

Icon speaks the truth. I owe Carl and everyone involved a big round of praise. Its the best investment any passionate artist can make,

                    Default Bump!

                    This is great news Carl!

I'm so close but yet so far! Going to work my ass off on some Barque and Cast drawings (not to mention filling up that sketchbook) and wait until the coast is clear. Hopefully I'll be able to apply next year

I really like your work, you're a great artist and I'm a big fan!

This is so exciting to hear. Being that I'm gonna be in Cali in a couple weeks this puts me right next door to you guys. I know you are going to do absolutely amazing things and I was always interested in the mb atelier. Great to hear again and I'll spread the word for you folks also!
