Default Blessing of the Great Serpent

Here is an illustration that I am currently working on.
Im learning Painter 11, like the way this sketch was going and decided to run with it.

Suggestions and Crits are always welcome.

And here is a quick painter with some feedback I have already got.
    1. 1. Make the horns (Conch shells) bigger
    2. 2. Enlarge the serpents body in the foreground
    3. 3. cut the horizon to behind the wave, to make it feel closer and more intimate.

Default LucidCognition's Sketchbook :: Critiques Are Always Welcome.

Hey all, Welcome to my sketchbook. I post things in it.

Here is a scarecrow sketch I made. Scarecrows are alwyas portrayed as evil scary things, but in reality they are protectors of the crop, guardians of the lively hood of the farm. I tried to factor that into the sketch. Enjoy!

I'd have to say the opposite about the foreground-body of the monster. I think it was too big to begin with. Also, the third image seems off-balance. Here's a sketch I did to suggest what you might consider doing with the body of the monster and the sea. I've leveled off the sea so its not tilted, and you might think this makes the image more boring, but it's really just a matter of how much energy you put into the details. Here's a nice example of that...

Thanks for the input bristle. I will consider it when i return to this painting, I agree that it is off balance. Thanks for that reference image, I see what you mean by making the serpent interact with the environment more, and I will definitely work that in. I just got my wisdom teeth out, so I haven't had the opportunity to work on it of late.

          Thanks again for the critique!

Wow Mike! That looks pretty awesome! Of course, giant serpents are always a yes in my book.

I can't wait to see the finished piece. Maybe we can chat about artstuffs over skype sometime! I'll have to jump on. Take care!

              Default Daily Sketches

I have started to do daily sketches, these are the the two most recent ones.

              The Meeting

Unfortunately, The Meeting doesnt read quite as easily as I would like, so i just thought I would point out that if you look on the bridge, those are people, the figures on either side are statues.

                Default Recent Sketch

                Hey all,

Here are some WIP of a sketch I started, I wasn't going to finish it, but I think I am going to. A friend came up this weekend, and showed me a workflow of a man whom she works with, so i decided to give it a shot. So far so good!

It started as a goblin, but ended up a witch. No complaints here!

                Critiques Please!

nice explorations. you might wanna look at going easier with your poses, you're pushing them a bit too far and breaking their bodies. take it a bit easier on just how far you push the anatomy.

                  keep it up though!

                    Hey Dan,
I think I will use some reference images next time. I actually noticed that last night after posing in the mirror (also I need to fix her hand cause they don't bend that way haha)

                    Thanks Again!

Here are some new sketches I did while on a train to DC.

                      style study

Hazards of love, inspired by some of the work here on CGHub

A DJ with holographic turntables who dances on a floor of giant pixels

I was experimenting with styles during the trainride.
I would like to finish the Forest Queen, so if anyone has suggestions or critiques, please let me know what is on your mind.

Currently, I feel like her body is torqued a bit too much, but I really want that s shape that it has right now. Im pretty sure her legs are wrong. If anyone has a reference image or something to help with that, it would be most appreciated. Thanks!

The suit in the bottom left reminded me of my friend Taylor, so I am trying to render it. Any help and critique would be most welcome, especially about the lighting and rendering.

                        Thanks!

attached is my latest personal project, and a critique from one of my friends. Please hit me up with some more critiques! I am probably going to bring this one into Illustrator once the composition is finalized.
