    Sooooooo here we go.
Found that awesome site just today for some reason and before I even start looking around to discover all the awesomeness which is going on here at cghub for sure, I start a sketchbook-thread

First something about me before it comes down to some pictures.
My Name is Christof Grobelski and I am a designstudent from Germany right now who is gettin friggin intense to get outta that Artschool as soon as possible, cause it SUCKS!!
    So heres the plan:
Someday in March I decided to take a chellange: I want to spent one year working my friggin ass of, as hard as i possibly can so that after these 365 days I will be able to either get some good work in the industry OR be able to get outta that terrible place over here, calling itself artschool and finally being able to get some REAL education in a good school outside fo germany.
Right now there are 283 Days left. If you want to see my progress from day 0 on, go check out my Sketchbook over at conceptart.org.
now on to some art. here we go, time to get friggin CRAZY!!

        SteFlack- thanks man

sooooooo nothing to fancy to show today, just some small commision work I am currently working on.
Something different from what I usually would paint for myself but it was huge fun drawing these little portraits from my mind, kinda testing where I stand concerning non-refed-semi-realistc work
So here's the progress, gonna finish today I believe
all the wonkieness going on in some of these little portraits will be fixed during the painting process-promise

            fetsch- thank you man

whow some time passed since the last update. haven't been lazy though, just taking a bit mroe time in order to be able to push myself beyond my limits. Feels great Just can't get enough of that shit

Just a few words to that new digital concept.
i was kinda thinking about all that concept design stuff a bit more, especially about creatures and how to design them. Of course it's clear that not every monster in a game can be deisgned like a uber Endboss, cause the entire game would just be completely overloeaded with "lasereyed-ninja-t-rex creatures". So I decided to dig a little deeper into the world of creatures that don't attract all the attention but have still to be designed well. I was thinking about final fantasy and all that fucking monsters that annoy the shit outta you just because you gotta fight them over and over again. Their design is not that attracting BUT they still are well designed and cool looking. So i wanted to tackle one kind of a creature like that, and damn, that was hard Have been fighting with the design for about as much time as the painting process took. definitely gonna work on that more

Not entirely finished yet, think I am gonna put one or two more hours into it

Good lord, so much talk and so little art. So we have the creature, the 5 minute color study I did before it ( I like to work at my "more finished work" from my own studeis rather than from reference) and one little sketchbook guy

                  AlexTooth- thanks man!!

eleven- haha Hi alex, where are your updates?

                  alesoun- thank you

soooooooo some words in the beginning.
I left CA for a bunch of reasons yesterday. That place just isn't what it was a few years ago, that space isn't the one that made me start drawing years ago.
So I decided to move my "main-base" over here at cg hub, keeping tjhe intensity alive, getting completely crazy with the love for art always being focused to get betterandbetetrandbetter knowing that all dreams WILL come true if you do work hard enough.

So speaking of work, I kinda lacked updating that thread because I spent the last week almost completely doing comissions which I don't wanna show here since it's really something waaaaaay diffrent from what I am doing normally and from what I wanna do in the future. It gives some extra money though, so I'll take whatever I can.
So if you want some rainbows, magic unicorns and cookie-islands, just send me a PM, I'll be your little bitch

Anyways before I got completely crazy, I managed it to draw that little humanoid-creature-zombiedude (what a relief ) and a little photoshop wip. want to explore that skin stucture/texture from that last one a bit more, but this is seriously not even halfway finished

btw. does anyone know how to change the thread-thumbnail??

                    Hey there Gloominati,

Cool sketches, nice explorations as well. I will try to swing by more often and take a peek. You are doing great, keep on fighting.

What is easy to forget is that art takes a long time to get good at. It is one part self-exploration, one part technical mastering and one part damn hard work

What I would like to see is who you are? What is in your brain?

                    Cheers and good luck!
                    Bjorn.

hey Bjorn, dude haven't seen you at all for quite some time now on the internets, well maybe it's my fault, haven't been looking around hard enough
Thanks for your post, one thing I'd like to ask though. about your
"What I would like to see is who you are? What is in your brain?". Do you have the impression that I am not letting out myself as much as I could or do you just want more of what I am doing right now?
haha I know really stupid question, it's just that I seem to have some trouble finding where I fit in, it actually seems that I love painting everything, not really knowing what MY thing really is. kinda strange to describe. I feel, however, that I am kinda just starting to find at least a bit of a direction where I want to go, as far as that "what is really me" is concerned

Xanath- haha AWESOME. I know that piece but I totally didn't think about that when I started this out. whow, crazy how mighty subconsciousness can be. thanks for pointing that out, gonna try to tweak the design some more to make it more "unique"

                            Sorknes- thanks

sooooooo here we go again. "finished" that last creature. gotta stop for now, since my wrist and my forearm aren't feeling to good the last few days. gonna take it easy

damn that stuff is awesome, it's the best feeling in the world to literally feel yourself puushing and puuushing harder and harder to the very limit just to discover that there ARE no limits, it's crazy. The question "when is a piece finished" becomes a whole new dimension. If I consider a "finished" piece, being a "professional looking" piece, I gotta say that I have probably never finished a piece in my entire life. What a huge feeling, what a motivation, what an awesome thing to know that my next piece will be better than this one is. jeeeez I love art
